EASY FALL MILK CAN ON THE PORCH
It is that time of year for me to decorate my metal milk can for fall. It is one of my favorite garage sale finds. My family does not share my enthusiasm for the vintage, metal can. Which is what motivates me to relocate the can around the house and the yard.I keep waiting for one of them to move it to an unknown location.
Milk cans are no longer in production which motivates me to showcase this for the holidays and seasons.
FALL MILK CAN FOR THE FRONT PORCH
Over the years my vintage metal can has moved around the house and outside like a merry-go-round.
Which makes me love a scratch-and-dent milk can with side handles. You can read the history of my milk can and the seasonal transitions over the seasons and years.
BRIEF HISTORY
Metal milk cans date back a thousand years. This is the only motivation I need to create new ideas for this historical garage sale find. I love the fun addition to the porch or the entry.
This year I relocated the milk can to the front porch. I thought the black metal can would look good with the black railing, porch lights and this super easy DIY.
This year I decided to skip the pumpkin and add this seasonal garland. I love the contrast between the orange garland and the black and the black-painted vintage milk can.
STEPS
I added the woody garland with orange berries. To keep the garland from tilting I filled the can in with cut branches from our backyard.
That’s it. I love this milk can! You can see the milk can over the years in pictures. Are you a milk can enthusiast? They are not for everyone , but I love that I have a bit of history sitting on my porch or in my house.

Very festive! I had a milk can I had painted white and stenciled on my Brooklyn, NY porch for many years but we recycled it when we moved west. It was a favorite decoration at the time, Now I have a big carved wooden bear holding a “Welcome” sign that we bought on a trip around South Park.
