CHECK OUT THESE BOXWOOD ORBS
I love boxwood! It goes well with so many colors and is popular year-round.
My sister introduced me to Boxwood years ago.
It was the trip where my carry-on was a boxwood wreath.
But I never i consider boxwood orbs for my front porch!
It’s like the 70’s called and plastic plants and orbs are back.
Why?
Because they are practical. I bet Edith Bunker loved a faux plant with a macrame sling!
And I had no issue when I added faux wreaths to my gates and doors..
A few years ago, I added these faux boxwood wreaths to my side gates.
They added a little splash of color and a welcome addition to our side gates.
The same gate that Chloe, our Bernese Mountain dog, realized she was too big to crawl (escape) from our backyard.
If I already added weather-resistant wreaths, what was wrong with an artificial grapevine orb?
BOXWOOD IDEAS
I talked about new uses for boxwood!
But I never thought I would add boxwood orbs. It was like next level… and I wasn’t sure if it was a win or a fail!
I don’t know why I made a distinction other than I was used to wreaths and grapevine.
And they pair so well together! Like sidewalk chalk and hopscotch.
When I initially found boxwood orbs at HomeGoods, I took a hard pass and wheeled my cart in the direction of housewares.
Faux outdoor decor felt like I had given up on shrubs and gardens.
So I skipped the aisles where shoppers were grabbing orbs and wreaths.
And then, somehow, I ended up back at another Home Goods and gave the orbs a second chance.
There was talk in the metro districts of water restrictions. Colorado had record-low snow levels this season.
Maybe I needed to focus more on the drought-friendly features of a faux orb.
wATER RESTRICTIONS
And our south-facing front porch with a garden hose attached to the side of the house was often forgotten. Maybe this was a win-win for water and orb options.
Could I? Would the neighbors talk about my faux boxwood spheres?
But it was hard to deny they added color and depth to our small porch.
Years ago, we replaced the wooden spindles with wrought-iron.
Would I be judged for the shiny, plastic, perfectly shaped boxwood orbs on my porch?
And then I found the spheres at Home Depot.
Are orbs like the blow-up Santas during the holidays?
Perfectly acceptable for the season!
And then I saw the smytrecal orbs on Grandin Road, the perennial favorite when you do not want to wade through the aisles of HomeGoods.
Here is a different version of an orb.
A few years later, we added a wrought iron handrail.
