SAVE MONEY WITH THIS HANDBAG TIP
I just had to share this handbag tip that can save you money! I was talking to my husband as we headed to a friend’s birthday.
Once I got the dress and shoes I grabbed my go-to petite summe hand bag.
I reminded my husband the details of this purchase a few years ago.
Translation: he heard nothing as I rattled off the details. He was listening to a football pre-game analysis as we drove to a friend’s birthday party.
And that’s when I knew my blog squad might enjoy this budget-saving tip!
THE HANDBAG
This purse is my go- to bag for summer parties, drinks with friends or a happy hour with my parents. It is small enough so I am not digging through my bag for lip balm or my car keys (even though my new-used car recognizes my keys when I approach my car) I still fumble for my keys before I leave a restaurant.
THE TIP
I love this rattan bag with short straps to hold in my hand. It measures approximately 8×8″ not including the straps.
This is my go-to summer bag for date nights and socials because it is limited to what it can hold (or what I can carry).
My requirements when choosing a small bag, wristlet or clutch is the bag must be able to hold:
- phone (obviously)
- lip balm and lipstick
- sunglasses
- readers (my new reality)
- I have a thin card wallet if I need a credit card.
- Funny I no longer need to show ID when I order a gin and tonic or a glass of Rose.
In full disclosure my sunglass case is a tight fit so I ususally just tuck them into the bag.
This bag is small enugh that I pack it in my carry on so I have a fun purse for dinner or drinks.
DETAILS
So where did I find this party purse? After shopping online for assorted clutches and summer bags I headed to Nordstrom.

And what to my wondering eyes should appear but this little rattan bag purse. It holds my essentials for a girl’s night out or a glass of wine with my parents.
And I paid a fraction of the price compared to similar size clutches from higgh end brands.

- Target
- Old Navy
- Nordstrom Rack and TJMaxx.
- Years ago I borrowed my five year old daughter’s black velvet Gymboree wristlet for a Christmas party. I forgot about it until I was writing this blog post.

Ha, this is what I have done a few times. In Australia we had a kids shop called Pavement and it was my daughter’s go to. I purchased scarves, bag and jewellery for myself.
