MILK CAN AND PUMPKINS

It is that time of year when I decorate my garage sale find- my vintage milk can. Like so many of my decor ideas, this pumpkin placement was the result of a happy accident.

It turns out a milk can is a perfect perch for a pumpkin. If you are a regular reader you likely noticed I am on a milk can binge. Here is the story of my original milk can makeover. If you don’t have a metal creamery can to decorate keep reading! I got a few ideas for you!

MILK CAN AND PUMPKINS

I was decorating for fall and needed a place for this huge pumpkin. When I casually added the pumpkin to my metal milk can it was an instant decor upgrade. But it turns out I had an instant fall upgrade for my staple decor piece I bought years ago at a garage sale.

The oversized orange pumpkin made the milk can a star!

NO MILK CAN NO PROBLEM

Now if you are thinking I don’t own or want a metal creamery can – no problem.

Just add a pumpkin to an object that brings the eye to the knee or waist level.

The orange brings the eye up. That’s why pumpkins are fun on porch steps and tables.

It was the same thing when I did this with a basket.

With the pumpkin perched on top of the milk can I added a little berry garden.

HOW TO EMBELLISH A MILK CAN

I am obsessed with this berry garland I found at Michaels. And, the pumpkin was the perfect way to top off the milk can (my version of a lid).

I used a little bit of a grapevine wreath to wrap around the neck of the milk can.

Grapevine garlands or wreaths are my go-to for planters and baskets that need a little more weight.

I am so excited about how this milk can makeover turned out. And, the best part…moving it inside gave me more space in the garage for my next garage sale find!
