The Ultimate Guide to DIY Scented Dryer Balls

I was late to the wool dryer balls craze. I bought a set last year and kept them on the new counter in the laundry room. You know the laundry counter demo I hid from my husband.

The wool balls were hidden in this repurposed toolbox beside the Kirkland laundry tab display. I wasn’t sure what to do with them and I had 120 dryer sheets on hand.

I admit I doubled they would hold up with Bernese Mountain dog hair embedded in the comforters and carpets!

The wool balls are magnets for dog hair in the dryer. That visual was the only downside to the dryer sheet substitute.

DRYER BALLS AND LINEN SPRAY

I read up on a few fun facts or perks of the wool ball craze. I may never return to Bounce (Target branded) fabric sheets.

When I read about these eco-friendly and inexpensive tennis ball-size wool balls I had to try them out.

Here are a few fun facts

  • made from real wool (versus fake wool (acrylic)
  • Does the same job as dryer sheets (but they bounce in the dryer)
  • Did you know dryer balls last up to 1000 loads of laundry?
  • The only thing I missed was the fresh scent of cotton or rain-scented dryer sheets as advertised on the box.

WOOL DRYER BALLS WORK GREAT WITH TOWELS AND THROWS

I love dryer balls for heavy loads of laundry. They keep the linens, towels, and comforters circulating.

The only thing I missed was the fresh linen-like scent.

SCENTED DRYER BALL TUTORIAL

Most of my tips are easy, but this is crazy easy.

I used these DIY-scented dryer balls on my towels, bed linens and down comforters. I have not tried scented line spray on my blouses or delicate fabrics … yet.

SCENTED LINEN SPRAY

TO DO

  • Spritz the linen spray or whatever scented fabric spray you choose onto the dryer balls
  • I sprayed maybe six sprays around the wool ball
  • Toss in the dryer
  • Repeat with each load

That’s it! I plan to test how many sprays it takes for the optimal ratio of wool to scented fabric spray.

Thank you for stopping by today. I would love it I you shared this post for others to find!
