QUICK WAYS TO A SUMMER ENTRYWAY REFRESH

Somewhere between Christmas and Memorial Day, my entryway morphed into a clearinghouse for Amazon packages and returns. With this dresser and a console table, it was a little crowded in the foyer. It was time for a quick summer entryway refresh.

Are you ready? Let’s do this together!

SUMMER ENTRY MAKEOVER

What do you think of your entryway? Do you love it or could it use a mini makeover like the one you can get at the makeup counter at Macy’s? Well, these ideas helped me turn my entry into a preview of what’s to come versus a loading zone.

STEPS

HOW TO CREATE A SUMMER ENTRYWAY

Empty the space. If you are a regular here at Everyday Edits you know this is my go-to suggestion. A clutter-free space gives you a fresh perspective. Seriously whenever you are bored with a room or corner clear it out (or at least move the light stuff)!

CLEAN THE ENTRYWAY COAT CLOSET

  • Grab a step ladder and clean the interior side of the front door
  • If you have a stained front door use a wood cleaner to clean it.
  • I made this bold decision for the inside of the front door and never looked back
  • If you have an entry closet this would be a good time to clean it.

I turned the entryway closet into a multipurpose closet and love the storage for the Costco-size cleaning products and paper towels. We added a small bar to hang winter coats. But the truth is we rarely enter the house through the front door so we love the extra storage for cleaning products.

This entry dresser now stores batteries, screwdrivers, lightbulbs and timers. Oh and that little lamp I found at Target for under $15.00

ENTRY RUG

What’s your rug look like right now? Back in the corner of every Homegoods and Marshalls is a clearance section of rugs. Take a look and freshen up your rug has frayed edges or the color looks like your nine-year-old Revlon foundation. I love these rug pads for under my entry rug. No more sticky residue like this discovery.

CONSOLE OR BENCH

I had a dresser and a console table and it was too much. So I relocated the side table and moved a bench from one of my kid’s bedrooms (now guest rooms).

I added a fern under the window and smiled. With the lighter bench and the cleaned-up entry the space looked refreshed. Like a mini makeover for an entryway. I added the red lantern for the summer holidays. Here are a few easy-peasy patriotic decor ideas.

I love this refresh! It takes less than an hour to put it all together! Now, my entry is ready for the second half of summer before the pumpkins show up on that bench.
