EASY WAY TO ORGANIZE RIBBONS
I love the idea of an organized laundry room house, but in reality, my laundry room looks like the changing area at Old Navy.
The laundry room has been in a state of flux since I hid this demo from my husband.
With only two of us at home and a supplemental laundry service (dry cleaners) it should not be this hard.
It’s been too long since I decided my laundry room needed more function than fashion.
I get distracted by the real function of the laundry room : laundry.
My husband, as you know, if you read how I hid a laundry room demo, enters the laundry room once every 15 days.
This is one of the reasons I want this space, it is quiet and away from distractions. Unless you count the collection of wired ribbon for wreaths and Christmas trees.
When Costco added wired ribbon to their holiday aisles I had big dreams of Hallmark inspired ribbon tree trimmings.
But the ribbon was tangled and the wiredribbon is like craft-grade barbed wire.
But this time of year, I take stock of gift wrap, iron the tissue paper, and organize the ribbon collection.
HOW I ORGANIZED RIBBONS
I took inspiration after I organized the tissue paper.
If there is one thing I save, it is ribbon. Here are just a few ways I use ribbon in my decor:
I used the ribbon from the Home Goods comforters to make this no-sew bolster pillow!

The Homegoods ribbon is wide and long enough to wrap up oversized gift boxes.
Over time, the ribbons were shoved into drawers in the laundry room.

WHAT I USE TO ORGANIZE RIBBON
I planned on using my plastic shoeboxes with lids I found at Target. But my cabinet space is tight. The shoebox size plastic containers was like trying to park an 4 Runnerin a spot intended for an ebike. And I didn’t want to have to open different containers to find spring green or Valentine pink ribbon.
Sorting the ribbon makes it so much easier to find a ribbon in a seasonal color or pattern

Ready for this time-saving tip?
- I organized the ribbons by color, holiday, and/or season.
- Stored them in clear gallon-size Ziplock bags
- I placed each bag of ribbons in a cabinet in my laundry room. I lined them up like books on a bookcase.
Sorting the ribbon makes it so much easier to find a ribbon in a seasonal color or pattern. It saves time because who wraps a gift the day before the event or party?
I often add additional ribbon to store-bought wreaths to make it fuller!

Yes! I use ribbon off of anything that I buy, cute small strings or bows on cards clear up to large bows and ribbons wrapped around bedspreads. Even blankets can have a nice sturdy ribbon wrapped around them. Crafters also sell their items with the cutest ribbons and bows around their products or goodie bags! The possibilities are endless. I have a nice big tote that I put them in! 😊
