EASY FRUIT CENTERPIECE FOR SUMMER

My goal is to eat more fruit and vegetables. Our friend starts most days with spinach leaves.

I am not quite ready to start my day with broccoli.

After a Costco trip, I always overestimate how many oranges I can eat and return home with six pounds of produce, including oranges, lemons, and limes.

The easiest way to remember eating an apple daily is to display fruits on the countertop.

A fruit centerpiece is both a reminder and a pretty display for summer.

FRUIT CENTERPIECE IDEAS

Not all fruits make great centerpieces. I learned this lesson with a plastic tray filled with raspberries left on the counter … overnight.

When creating a live centerpiece, stick to fruits that need to be peeled or chopped.

PLATTER OR BASKET TO DISPLAY FRUIT

I keep my fruit arrangements pretty and simple. Here are my go-to fruits for a centerpiece.

  • apples
  • lemons
  • limes
  • grapes
  • grapefruit

These fruits add color and are easy to grab and go or slice for a mid-day snack.

Remember, the goal is to eat the fruit!

Tips:

Do not put an entire bag of Costco lemons on display.

Instead, I like to add a few and put the rest in the fridge

Make sure to remove the stickers from the fruit.

Sidenote: (a real estate photographer taught me this tip when I met her at a new listing. She told me to remove the produce stickers from the fruit before she photographed the kitchen.

I always think of her tip when I see produce stickers.

And I also remember when the seller called me (screaming) to tell me someone had touched a pear in her fruit bowl.

She knew this because the sticker was facing a different direction than when she left her house.

Berry baskets and narrow trays are an easy way to add grapes or plums to a fruit-filled centerpiece.

They won’t get smushed if they are in a separate ramekin or bowl.

The berry basket keeps the produce contained, and you can return it to the fridge for fruit preservation.

Ceramic baskets keep the fruit from hibernating at the bottom of a ceramic bowl.

I don’t want my fruit to look like a can of Libby’s Fruit Cocktail.

TIERED TRAYS

Tiered trays keep the lemons from rolling off the kitchen counter or table.

A tiered tray is an easy way to add a variety of fruits.

It draws your eye and does not take up valuable real estate on a kitchen table or counter.

If you are new to Everyday Edits, I have a thing for tiered trays.

Here is an example of a tiered tray with lemons! I added greenery for a pop of color.

Mix real fruit and faux greenery perfectly fine or vice versa for a fruit centerpiece.

You could also add fresh mint to a fruit centerpiece.
