HOW TO MAKE A BOLSTER PILLOW

I love pillows and bedding. Some people splurge on cars; I splurge on Christmas-themed comforters.

We are slowly updating our daughter’s childhood bedroom to a guest room. She has an en-suite bathroom so it is ideal for guests.

During uring this process of sorting trophies, sorority theme overalls, and the Vampire Diaries series, I made a DIY bolster pillow for our guest room.

As we all know, one idea triggers an avalanche of ideas to make the original idea work or solve a problem.

Steps to Make a DIY Bolster Pillow

Here is a quick review: a cylindrical, tube-shaped pillow. I use bolster pillows in my decor, but I’ve recently discovered that they can also help with neck pain.

Supplies

Coverlets or heavy blankets

Wide ribbon

As I cleared and sorted the bedding in the linen closet, I had two bulky coverlets from HomeGoods.

When I rolled (not folded) my daughter’s coverlet, I realized I had a bolster pillow that solves more than one problem. Let’s have some fun!

STEPS

1/ Lay the comforter or blanket on the floor or a hard surface to achieve a tight roll.

2. Tie the ribbon (or attach the belts) on the opposite ends of the rolled comforter or coverlet.

3. If the coverlet looks slouchy, you need to repeat the first and second steps. A tight roll will keep the pillow from looking unruly. It’s like a giant hair scrunchy for your comforters.

The ribbon (or belts) prevent the look from resembling a messy throw.

Because I have a stash of ribbon, I tied both ends of the pillow. I got the belt idea from this decor idea, but most of us don’t buy matching belts!

Sidenote: I do have two matching belts from JCF, but they are different widths! Target and J. Crew Factory have the best deals on trendy belts!
