SIMPLE DRYER TIP FOR BULKY COMFORTERS

I am excited to share this dryer tip for comforters and bulky items. It turns out the solution was hiding in plain sight!

But first, do you remember when you did laundry on a Sunday night in your basement dorm or apartment? I saved my quarters to feed the washer and dryer.

Sidenote: For my young professionals who read Everyday Edits, there was a time when we had to operate the washer and dryer with quarters. This was before card readers and laundry apps.

Standing in my laundry room, with piles of comforters and winter throws to wash and dry, I appreciated not having to worry about someone stealing my laundry basket.

I forgot about dorm laundry until recently when I spent the better part of a Sunday waiting for the bulky items in my dryer to… dry.

DRYER STRUGGLES

Unfortunately, the dryer struggles to dry the bulky comforters or throws in one cycle (or two cycles) . I hover over the dryer to redistribute the weight for the comforters and throws. I adjusted the heat settings, time cycle, and load descriptions on the front of the dryer.

Usually, I end up tossing the down comforters over the banister to air dry.

TIP:

If you hang laundry over a stained banister, make sure to put a towel and/or sheet over the banister.

One of my white down comforters has a stained stripe on one side. It took me as much time to dry the bulky comforter as it did to figure out the source of the oak-like striped stain.
