REMEMBER THIS TIP BEFORE YOU FORGET
I am at the age where if I don’t add dish soap to my Reminder app or my Costco list, I won’t remember.
I am at the age where, if I have an amazing blog post idea, it will be gone if it pops into my head while I am driving.
My mom made a daily to-do list and taped it to the corner of her linoleum kitchen counters.
I naively asked why she had to remember ” Tony’s Pepperoni Pizza Rolls or Twinkies.
I love a list- the problem is when I forget the item by the time I find something to write or type in my notes, reminders, calendar, or one of my 3 spiral notebooks scattered on my desk.
And yet I can list the characters Trudy, Blair, Joe, and Mrs. Garret from the Facts of Life. Or remember every main actor in Brothers & Sisters.
One of my oldest (longest) friends had a great tip for those middle-of-the-night reminders.
I think they would work during the day.
Like all of my tips, I test them out before I type them on Everyday Edits.

TIP TO REMEMBER BEFORE YOU FORGET
My friend Kristin’s tip was to do this when you wake up in the middle of the night and don’t want to forget your genius idea or next-day reminder.
Ready?

You know, when you have a great idea or something you want to share with the world, and then the next day you wish you had written it down?
It may not work for a password reminder, but for the middle-of-the-night ideas or reminders, try this!
Great ideas never originate in front of a sticky note or a phone app.
when you wake up in the middle of the night and want to remember the thought the next morning… just toss whatever is on your nightstand into the middle of the room!
My friend tossed her key chain, but a book or a pair of readers next to your nightstand works.
As long as you toss an object that would not normally be on the floor of your room.
Just a random object. An object on your nightstand or drawer.
The idea is that if you attach a physical item in an out-of-the-ordinary place (the middle of the bedroom), the reminder/idea “attaches” to that middle-of-the-night object.
Just a physical item to attach to the idea you want to remember in the morning!
That’s it!
Just try it the next time you think of a book title or whatever pops up in your mind in the middle of the night!

Before you go, here is a short list of reminders for my empty nest (first husband).
