HOW TO MAKE GARAGE ENTRY DOOR PRETTY
Do you use your front door? Unless we are touring homes or watching a Hallmark movie, most people do not use the front door to enter or exit their homes. Instead, they leave or return home through the garage entry door.
Until recently, I had never considered the garage entry door. In my world, the garage is outside the decor envelope.
And then I had an extra wreath and decided to add it to the entry door.
ADD A WREATH TO THE GARAGE ENTRY
I know.
But can I tell you how happy I am when I press the garage door opener and a wreath greets me after a day of errands, meetings, or calls I took in a parking lot?
It is the same feeling when my husband unloads the dishwasher.
WHY I ADDED A WREATH
The wreath is a bright spot in a space that stores paint and his and her matching 64-gallon trash cans. Adding a wreath was an easy way to brighten the end or beginning of a day. The steps to add the wreath were the motivation I needed to clean up the space.
PREP THE GARAGE ENTRY
The garage entry space started with a wreath. And we know how one thought leads to another.
The following steps are unnecessary, but since you are in the garage, why not clean the space? Seeing a wreath greeting you as the garage door rises might lift your mood.
STEPS BEFORE YOU ADD A WREATH TO THE GARAGE DOOR
Cleaning is a great way to remove pollen and leaves that cling to the door hinges and sweep.
- Sweep the garage floor
- Mop the garage floor entry
- Wipe down the door and handle to remove dust and pollen
- Add a small nail or Command strip to hold the wreath.
- I used a surface cleaner to clean the door and hardware. Then, I switched to Dawn soap and water to clean the concrete garage floor. It worked well with this floor disaster, so I knew it would clean the dirt and grime around the door’s entrance.

Cleaning the entire garage is for another day. For now, I want a pretty door to greet me when I open it.
WHERE I FIND WREATHS
Remember when I took a spending hiatus?

Choose a wreath that is not too large. When we return home, most of us have our arms full. You don’t want to catch your wreath with a handbag in one hand and a bag of groceries that catches an edge (a wreath edge).

I love the look! I am in and out of my garage multiple times during any day, and something about a wreath greeting me reminds me to pause when I arrive home.
I added this sign to warm the space up a wee bit more.
