DO THIS WHEN ON THE PHONE WITH A BOT
If you are a frequent visitor to Everyday Edits, you know I have had multiple encounters with customer support.
There was this quiz.
And the hold music had me crying from laughter.
Chances are, if you are on a call or a website with a question or complaint, your first point of contact likely does not have a heartbeat or a wardrobe.
Welcome to the Bot Customer Support Team
At one point, I was in a rapid-fire of nouns, adjectives, and adverbs with a bot.

Except the conversation was with a bot named Trevor. Yes, bots have names- it is part of the customer support package.
And while on the phone with ” Blaine like the name of a major appliance.”
Sidenote: Do you remember what movie had the reference to the name Blaine?
And then I remembered the secret password to bypass Blaine and go straight to a human with more than one organ.
Ready
In the middle of either a phone conversation or a litany of words via a support ticket, just say … this one word? Any guesses. Yes, I have likely yelled a few one-syllable words, but this word is your get-out-of-bot jail.
Ready?
“HUMAN.”
That’s it.
Over the last month, I have used it while on customer support with a bank, a software company, and tracking down an order.
Don’t say anything more than “human. Keep it direct and to the point.
You do not want to get flagged as a difficult customer.
I found this article on additional best practices with Bots!

Here are a few popular tips from previous Tuesdays!

I too spend my fair share of time dealing with bots and often find myself enunciating ‘customer service’ on repeat until I get a human. Now I know.. I should simply just ask for a human. Duh. Thanks for the tip.
HI Hena,
Glad you liked the tip. Out of frustration I think I just shouted instead of yelling at the bot.
Now if you are on chat support it wil pop up if you want a human. Now, if we can just change the hold music!
