THE CUTEST WAY TO STORE PLASTIC BAGS
This might be my favorite ideas on Everyday Edits!
It’s true the best tips or ideas solve a problem.
I have a problem with plastic bags.
As a big dog family, I stock up on plastic and retail mailer bags to clean up after Elliott’s messes in the yard and on walks.
Between Elliott, our Bernese Mountain dog, and Russell’s visits (our daughter & SIL’s Berner), there are a lot of potty breaks and the occasional intestinal issue.
PLASTIC BAGS TAKING OVER
It is a never-ending cycle of carpet cleaner and plastic bags to collect the mess.
It is why I hoard and repurpose bread bags and retail delivery bags.
I also save and repurpose retail boxes!
But even if you don’t have a dog we all find uses for plastic bags.
I tried the plastic bag organizers, but the vertical tube with holes to shove or pullout a plastic bag usually sent the plastic bag holder flying across the garage floor.
I used empty oatmeal containers to stash bags, but they took up valuable cabinet space.
It turns out the solution to the plastic bread bags was hiding in plain sight.
And like most of my ideas, they are the from a random event.

CUTE STORAGE IDEA FOR ALL THOSE PLASTIC BAGS
While prepping the back yard for winter-storing the patio cushions, I kept my fall theme burlap pillows reserved for my front and back yard benches.
I had just put away the pillows and the foam pillow forms for winter.
And that is when I removed the pillow form and stashed the pumpkin theme pillow cover with the plastic bags.
These sturdy but cute burlap pillows are always positioned near either front or back door and sit on small benches I have for both.
It was the perfect solution to store the bags near the doors we use to walk the dogs.
If you have a mud room or entry off the garage, store your bags in a decorative pillow cover.
It looks so much nicer than the roll of potty bags (that always unroll (like a roll of toilet paper) onto the floor.
If you let your dog out for his or her daily walks just stash the bags in a pillow cover (the bags act as a pillow form) and keep it near the door you use to let the dogs out to do their business.
Now I grab or stash the never-ending plastic bags on the front or back benches.
Now I have two outdoor pillows to hold a dozen plastic bags.
And from either yard, it looks like a cute pillow for the season!
The plastic bags are a great substitute for a pillow form that will take a beating in the winter.
This idea works year round- just switch out the pillow cover. Add a pillow (for bags) in the room you use to recycle bags. A pillow looks so much cuter than an oatmeal container and has a zipper to keep it from “expanding” in a lower cabinet.

My brother solved the dog poo in bags issue by taking his dog out to isolated wooded areas to do his business, then walks him in other populated areas afterward. He doesn’t have to pick up after him and contributes to fertilizing the forest, win-win.
