LOOK WHERE I ADDED PINECONES

Spring is the season to get flower pots summer-ready for annuals and perennials!

My friends buy their flowers from a variety of retailers and nurseries in the Denver-metro area. Go- to sources include:

I love flower pots overflowing with annuals and perennials.

But it takes a lot of flowers (and money) to create flower pots for our porches and patios.

And then there are the replacement costs when I forget to water my petunias for a day or two.

Does anyone else forget to water?

Or the scorching Colorado sunshine drains the life out of the flowers.

After a trip to Sequoia with our travel squad, we all arrived home with TSA-approved Sequoia pinecones.

We looked like kids lsearching for Easter eggs on Easter Sunday when we gathered pinecones.

We were outside the National Park.

In the past, I found the Sequoia-sized pinecones on Etsy and eBay.

I always thought of pinecones for the seasons and holidays of holly, garland, and snow spray!

But they are so pretty, they should be displayed year-round, right?

It never occurred to me.

After the holidays, I left the pinecones on the mantel. They looked out of place- like they were overdressed for a neighborhood potluck.

And summer is the season for ferns and faux indoor plants at my house.

While arranging my spring flowers (the day before it snowed in Colorado), I added the oversized Sequoia pine cones to my summer planters.

Here are the benefits of adding pinecones to your flower pots:

Adds dimension and interest to the flowers

Now if only we could find a reason to keep our Christms trees up year round or stick them in an oversized conainer in the side yard!
