EASY HALLOWEEN DECOR WITH BOOKS
Halloween is a holiday that decor enthusiasts either love or resent for overshadowing pumpkins.
For me, Halloween just buts in like “hello, I am ready to partay.”
So I love easy Halloween decor that does not crash the pumpkin party! Have you heard of a Halloween book stack? It doesn’t detract from the pumpkins or the friendly ghosts.
And it is the easiest, last-minute Halloween decor that works for every season!
I love my yard ghosts (gifted by my sister-in-law).
And I must admit I am a sucker for Halloween decor (check the clearance tab on Pottery Barn or Crate & Barrel on Halloween night, while eating, I mean, handing out Snickers bars).
But I am a full-fledged fall fan, so moderation is how I do Halloween.
And this is how I brewed up an easy Halloween book stack.
This last-minute holiday decor idea is super easy. The supply list is short, and we all have books taking up space in closets, hutches, or boxes in the basement.
Now I search my house for books with black, orange, and purple jackets or spines to create a Halloween-themed book stack.
Let’s take a look at this super-easy Halloween decor idea.
STEPS TO CREATE A HALLOWEEN BOOK STACK
- Browse your home for books with black, orange, green, or purple jackets.
- This is a fun reminder to “shop your house”for books that work for Halloween.
- I found a few hardcover books in different styles.
- 4 Hardback books work best.
- To add a pop of color, I covered a book’s spine with cardstock I found at Michaels in my brief craft phase.
Initially, I covered the books, but then I realized it was easier to just cover the book’s spine with a fun Halloween print and Scotch tape or a glue stick.
That’s it!
You may recognize the orange and black polka dots from these repurposed paint cans that I added to my fall porch.
TIPS:
I like to revisit our book throughout the year to find fun color combinations for different seasons.
It takes less time than brewing my coffee.
In my quest to create year-round book stacks, I removed most of the book jackets.
My husband has yet to notice that the book covers are missing from his study.
