How many of you go to sleep thinking about your next day’s morning brew? I prep my morning brew after dinner.
My sister and I debate about coffee filter inserts vs the reusable option.
I pointed out that I waste more water cleaning the filter, and she argues I am wasting the unbleached (or bleached filter.
But, while waiting for my morning caffeine, I made a mental list of ways I use the biodegradable paper sleeves coffee filters that save time, money, or water.
I buy my filters in packages of 100 at Kroger. Over the years, I have used the bleached and non-bleached options for uses other than coffee.

Snackables
Coffee filters are great for a quick snack bowl for bulk snack items. Pretzels and Goldfish are my go-to afternoon snacks. What are your go-to mid-day nibbles?
Baking
I like to pre-measure my baking soda, powder, and salt. I don’t have to rewash measuring cups for the “smaller” ingredients. Also it is an easier visual to see I measured the baking soda before accidentally doubling it because I can’t see it in the large glass bowl designated for the “dry ingredients.”
Baking sprinkles for sugar cookies and frosted brownies filters.
The round-shaped filters easily contain the sprinkles, making it easier to prevent them from rolling off the counter.
Cookie Trays:
During the holidays, I will sort cookies and chocolate treats into the petite round white filters. They are slightly larger than a cupcake wrapper and are a fraction of the cost of printed cupcake wrappers. They fit nicely in a cookie tin or plasticware.
Ice Cream & Popsicles
Have you tried a filter to make an ice cream cone “sleeve?
If you snip the “bottom” of the doffee filter, you can slide the ice cream cone into the biodegradable sleeve to prevent a sticky mess.
Do you like “puzzles?” Coffee filters make an inexpensive catch-all when sorting puzzles by edges and/or colors.
I usually buy my coffee ground filtersat Kroger, but these Made in the USA filters will last for over a year.
Nuts & Bolts
Use a coffee filter to hold the nuts and bolts or nails when assembling or hanging up artwork. How many times do you lose a screw on the multi-patterned rug?
