FROZEN FOOD FREEZER CHALLENGE TIP
This week’s Tuesday Tip is compliments of a Colorado”blog” friend, Pat.
Pat and I connecteseveral years ago. Pat She is my go to fesource for Colorado day and overnight trips.
Over the years, we exchanged emails and stories.
Pat is originally from Brooklyn and an amazing cook! She helped me choose an Italian dessert for my first hosting gig at my book club. We both belong to book clubs in our neighborhood and routinely share book titles.
I always conclude my Tuesday Tips for new tips from readers!
Last week, Pat shared with me her and her husband’s frozen-food freezer challenge.
loved it, and I think you will love it too!
I asked for her permission and she shared how their freezer challenge reduces food waste ( and saves money at the grocery store).

FROZEN FOOD FREEZER CHALLENGE TIPS
Most of this post is from Pat’s email. Enjoy! I hope you enjoy this Tuesday Tip as much as I did!
STEPS
My husband and (I keep a list of everything in our freezer(s).
WE write the purchase date on each item.
When twe use that item we cross it off tour list.
We then add to the list as we buy new items for the freezer.
We keep the lists on our refrigerator on a magnetic clip.
Every few months or so, when our lists get messy with cross offs and additions squeezed in- we will go through the freezers and do a fresh new tally.
It helps us with meal planning, as I try to use up older items first.
As it is still fairly a new year, I am determined not to buy anything for my freezers until I use up all the items we bought in 2025.
There are a few exceptions –I have candied orange peels I made and froze in batches to save for a Christmas cookie I make every year, and basil puree I froze from last summer’s basil plants that will last until I make new batches this summer.
We also rotate our pantry items by putting older items in front.
I hope this will be of help!
Thank you Pat!

Pat has been a huge help and resource for us when we plan our NYC trips to visit our youngest son.
Thank you Pat! for this week’s Tuesday Tip! Here is a pantry tip that works if you love challenges!
If you have a tip please send it to me in an email!
You do not need to own a blog to send a tip! Thank you!

I try and do this too though I do buy some things before using everything up. We only have a small extra freezer now so it’s easier to keep up with it!
Thanks for sharing my freezer foods storage/rotation tip, Laura! It has helped me with meal planning, and cuts down on foods getting buried and then wasted due to freezer burn, etc.
I recently made a stir fry using slices of petite sirloin steak as the protein and I added lots of fresh vegetables I wanted to use up –stir fries are great way to use the last of carrots, celery, bell peppers, etc. I find many great recipes of the “Woks of Life” blog website — I learned a lot of good tips on that website as one of the blog authors grew up working in his father’s Chinese restaurant.
