LOVE THIS CRATE & BARREL CLEANING TIP

It is not unusual for me to walk into Crate & Barrel with a salad plate in my handbag.

When I need replacement pieces, the only way I can be sure I get the right design is to bring one from my kitchen.

I brought in the Farmhouse design, and the sales associate noticed the faint scratch marks from years of forks, tongs, and knives marking my dinner plates.

My baked chicken usually needs a sharp knife.

The sales associate grabbed a cleaner from behind the counter and rubbed the baking soda-like cleaner over the middle of the plate.

The faint grey veins were gone. What? She showed me the product and said they had it in stock, but it was readily available online and at places that sold cleaning products.

She added that they do not mark up the price.

I added a 14-ounce scratch-free powdered cleaner to my order.

The container looks like Comet cleanser, but it contains no harsh chemicals. It is called Bon Ami. Have you heard of it?

Directions:

Always try on a test spot

Sprinkle onto a soft cloth and add water to create a little paste.

Rub the paste over the scratch marks.

I forgot about this little cleaner hidden under my sink until I had a scorch mark on a pie plate. I know what some of you you are thinking,

” Laura tried to make a pie on the plate.”

But the pie plate made the cutest little stand for my Bath & Body Candle.

But the heat from the bottom of the candle scorched my petite white pie plate. It had a grey film that dish soap and water could not remove.

On a whim I grabbed the BonAmi and rubbed it on the scorch marks.

And just like that…

The scorch marks were gone from the top of the ceramic pie plate.

I wish I had taken a before photo but I did not expect the Bon Ami to remove the scorch marks. It was a last ditch effort before I made plans to spray paint it.
