EMPTY NEST IDEAS FOR THE LAUNDRY ROOM

Our laundry room is bored. Where it once was responsible for cleaning a decade of tennis skirts, boy sweat smells and sporty- spice scented school uniforms it is ready for a career makeover.

The laundry room has time and space to adjust to a new role.

Our laundry room is blessed with several upper cabinets – a gold mine for storage. The irony is the cabinets and and the space between the cabinets and ceilings are mostly empty.

Why? Because I have analysis paralysis with what to store in those cabinets.

I am a Virgo.

LAUNDRY ROOM UPDATES

Over the years we have made minimal but practical improvements in the space. The home had existing builder-grade lower white cabinets with three drawers.

I updated the existing hardware with this tip. It is one of my easiest tips and it made a big difference.
In 2021 we updated:
laundry sink and faucet + sprayer (Home Depot)
We used this tip to remove the flooring in the two bathrooms and laundry room and replace them with wood-grain style luxury vinyl.

t was worth the expense to hire a demo crew to remove old tile and haul it down four flights of stairs in our brownstone in the suburbs home.

Of course, if you are a reader at Everyday Edits you know me and are not surprised by my well-thought-out plan.
I hired myself to demo the cracked tile squares. I completed the demo and tile removal without my husband’s knowledge. It’s a funny story you can read how I did it.

Pinterest has me obsessed with laundry rooms, but this is not the space where I will add wallpaper and new cabinets … unless I add a window. :0)

When reimagining a space , I always begin with my friend Julie’s suggestion before I make any changes.

I currently store my gift wrap and tissue paper on the back of the laundry room door. This purchase is a favorite. I love it so much I bought a second one.
