HOW TO MAKE BIRDSEED CAKES

How to make birdseed cakes for the birds (and squirrels).

Equipment

  • JELLO MOLD OR FORM
  • TWINE OR STRAW TO MAKE HOLE IN CAKE TO HANG

Ingredients
  

  • 3 CUPS WILD BIRD SEED
  • 1/2 CUP BOILING WATER
  • 3 TBSP KARO SYRUP
  • PACKET UNFLAVORED GELATIN
  • 3/4 CUP FLOUR
  • COOKING SPRAY FOR MOLD

Instructions
 

  • SPRAY MOLD OR FORM WITH COOKING SPRAY
    MIX BOILED WATER AND GELATIN DISSOLVES
    ADD INGREDIENTS AND FOLD UNTIL BLENDED
    THE "BATTER" IS STICKY
    FOLD DOUGH INTO FORMS. FOR LARGER FORMS DOUBLE THE BATCH.
    SET ASIDE TO DRY 12-24 HOURS.
