THE WEEKEND EDIT + WINE TASTING

Hello Saturday and Happy Easter.

Well if you missed last week’s Weekend Edit it was a bit of fun in Ohio for the Mother-Son Weekend. You can read the first two paragraphs here to get up to speed.

And if you are reading today’s Weekend Edit and thinking it sounds familiar well this is the wine-tasting story (not the airport story).

Do you remember I mentioned how excited I was for the wine tasting (with this son) when this announcement showed up in my inbox?

Well, imagine my surprise last Saturday (after the airport mixup) when I was all ready for the wine tasting. I had visions of wines (same image as last week) from different regions for the mother-son wine tasting. Maybe a charcuterie board?

Now, imagine my face when I opened the back door of the fraternity house and saw banquet tables with Franzia boxed wine. Sigh and smile because it was perfect!

I loved it! It is so college! Oh, you guys it was just the cutest thing to have these college boys purchasing the finest blends of Franzia Chards and White Zins.

And when I asked if they had a boxed wine of a Rose one of the pledges said, without skipping a beat, “Oh Mrs. Nuss, did you know White Zinfandel is the baby sister to the Rose?”

Guess what he is studying in college?

You guys I am not a wine snob. I love boxed wine. I bring one to most USTA matches. I love the labels and the packaging.

But the Franzia was such a throwback and I am guessing the cheapest. But when I heard the White Zin is the baby sister to the Rose I knew I had to share this story with you!

You know these are the stories we remember and not the ones where everything was perfect. Who wants to hear about someone’s perfect life.

It was a great weekend.

This is one of the sweetest stories I have heard! Having 2 college graduates, I sincerely appreciate the tenderness of what your sons organized for you and the other moms – especially HOW they did it.
