THE WEEKEND EDIT THE BIRD IS BACK
Happy Weekending.
In exciting news, our yard no longer looks like a mullet.
This time of year, our front yard resembles Mark Darcy from Bridget Jones, and the backyard looks like Daniel Cleaver after he crashed through the pub’s glass window (while fighting with Mark Darcy.
QUESTION: Mark Darcy or Daniel Cleaver? If you have not watched Bridget Jone’s Diary, I will add your vote to the Mark Darcy column!
I love this time of year when the birdsong replaces the morning alarm.
All is quiet until our resident NutHatch shows up on our front deck with a pop-up concert that sounds like a Guns & Roses concert.
Have any of you seen the Capital One commercial remake with Molly Shannon, Ana Gasteyer, and Samuel Jackson? I giggle every time I hear the words “sticky buns.”
Our Bernese Mountain dog Elliott woke up in the middle of the night licking the carpet. This went on for over an hour.
It looked like an allergy attack, but he just licked the carpet and could not settle down.
I called my sister (the following afternoon).
Tricia is our family’s dog whisperer, and her guess was that his tongue might be itchy. Hmmm… anyone?
Sidenote: Tricia and Adopt a Golden Knoxville coordinated Elliott’s adoption and his one-way ticket to Colorado six years ago!

Mark Darcy forever!
I had a dog, years ago, who loved to lick the sofa. He licked only when we were not at home. It eventually rotted the fabric. For me it was a good reason to reupholster the sofa. Haha.
Mark Darcy gets my vote in every new interpretation of Jane Austin’s book.
I listen to Sunday Sitdown with Willie Geist and sometimes Making Space with Hoda Kotb. Wiser Than Me with Julia Louis-Dreyfus is good too.
