THE WEEKEND EDIT SEPTEMBER

Happy weekend on the 13th day of September. Go ahead and walk under a ladder.

I spent last weekend catching up on my fall decor! Sometimes I think the best decor staples are the random leaves and berry stems that settle to the bottom of the bin.

I cannot remember why I needed a dozen 2″ pumpkins.

My husband and I returned to Colorado with his and her head colds. I learned not to post a reel while under the influence of Walgreens Nighttime cough syrup.

I accidentally filmed myself while looking for something on my phone, and let’s just say that was not a good angle for my face and neck. When did that happen?

Note to self: Delete all accidental selfie photos.

  1. My 84-year-old father-in-law joined a Fantasy Football league with his sons.
  2. My sister and BIL adopted a dog last weekend through Adopt a Golden Knoxville. We adopted Elliiott through this amazing charity.
  3. To celebrate the Delaney’s adoption, I ordered these fall bandanas for their dog squad!
  4. Do you use the Chewy service for your pets? I love the convenience of not having to haul a 24 pound of dog food into a shopping cart and loading it in and out of my car.
  5. Did you see this week’s Tuesday Tip?

QUESTION: What is one of your favorite books this year?

  1. Sorry to hear you both came back sick. Hope you feel better soon.
    Thanks for sharing my link!
I checked out the Preppy Empty Nester and her reviews as well.. always adding more books to the list.
The knobs on the furniture update really make the piece unique.

  2. I hope you are feeling better, Laura! I am still healing from my eye problem, but I am now using experimental eye drops made from my own blood and made in my cornea specialists’ lab, which is helping.
My favorite book of last year was “A Fever In the Heartland” by Timothy Eagan. A non-fiction book based on a true event, which is quite scary and gruesome, but the book’s backstory taught me a lot about America’s immigration history and many misconceptions that Americans have. In light of what has been happening lately, it also showed me that, sadly, “everything old is new again.” If we as a nation survived that, maybe we can survive now.

  3. I’m with you…some books can seem so formulated that I find I know what’s going to happen before it does! I used to be in a book club. I loved it!
    Have a great weekend.

  4. That 4th of July floral/flag arrangement is so cute!
I need a good book, but I’m tired of fiction. I may go back and read the classics again.
They may be old, but they aren’t tired.
I’m going to have to go the JCO webiste now. Thank you very much.

    1. CALL ME I promise not to do laundry or take calls from evan ;0)

  5. You need to plan a trip to Alaska! That is so cool, my SIL’s dad & mom just did the trip and it was her dad’s last state to visit as well. I haven’t watched that show but I was thinking of checking it out but there are too many things to watch. I’m only part way through YOU’s last season, so I’m way behind. The birds do wake me sometimes before dawn. Crazy about the bears! We had a big graduation this past weekend (CG #1). Hope you had a great weekend1

  6. I am watching Friends & Neighbors and am enjoying it.
You was so crazy and the finale was just crazy.. not really a fan.
That is so cool about your husband.. does he have a favorite?

  7. No bucket list, but I’m impressed your husband has been to every state except Alaska. You definitely need to visit Alaska. I’ve been getting my flower beds in shape for the upcoming season.

  8. Laura, 1. you have to go to Alaska. It is so beautiful and very special.
    2. Thank you for sharing my spray painted lamps. I love them. As soon as I can find the right color, I have another pair of glass lamps to paint.
    3. Children’s Medical is a wonderful hospital. My sorority alum group outfitted their pediatric cardio library years ago. If you come to visit your niece, you HAVE to visit me.

  9. I’m afraid to take pictures! Know it’s not good, especially since we cut the top of the living room shelves! Can’t wait to get the fireplace!

  10. Smother…😆!! That’s hysterical. I hadn’t heard that before, but I’m sure sometimes my girls would agree!!!

  11. tricia becker says:

Hmmm…maybe Debra From ELR minus MIL and kids?
IDK. You are Claire for sure!

  12. Neither.. my husband and I divide our chores in a way that I don’t have to do anything outside the house.
I would love a grapefruit mocktail.. I can sip it while I watch him work 🙂

  13. Our book club has been reading all of Richard Osman’s Murder Club books one by one–fun and light reading. This month was Kristen Hannah’s “The Women” — it was a little long and drawn out in my opinion–I liked the first half of the book–could have ended it there!

We haven’t begun outdoor clean-up as yet—we’ve been busy with grandkids’ sports, etc. We have a very large wood retaining wall behind us—there is no chance of passing fire mitigation because of that, plus a few large trees near our house I don’t have the heart to cut them down.

  14. Thank you so much for sharing my birthday story! I so appreciate you! Such a fun round up!
    Happy day!
