For this week’s The Weekend Edit, I planned to share how I accidentally sprayed self-tanner in my hair thinking it was hair texture spray. And, then two things happened. I remembered it was 9/11 on this week’s Weekend Edit and my (our) daughter shared with us the Netflix show called Turning Point.
She remembers bits and pieces of that day. At that time we lived outside of Columbus and one of my close friends lost her best friend’s husband. My daughter remembers us going over to Andrea’s house and repeatedly telling the kids to play outside (no television).
At the time we lived outside of Columbus. One of my favorite photos of Ashley and her brother (my lefty) was taken that morning before Erich attended his preschool open house.
We drove separately that morning and my husband shared there were news reports on the radio that a plane hit one the World Trade Towers-we assumed it was a news helicopter.
Ashley asked us why the schools kept the students in class. The school decided too many families needed to find their family members (Columbus is a huge corporate retail hub with many neighbors commuting weekly to NYC).
I reminded her (again) of the story behind this repurposed find.
I highly recommend this series.
If you want to know my why. My why behind MADE in the USA products- this is part of that reason. To celebrate the greatness of our country and shut the media out of dictating the narrative. I once had a professor who asked me about good vs bad people or events. My response was I believed in the 80/20 wardrobe rule. We wear 20% of our wardrobe 80% of the time. I believe this to be true for people except we hear the negative stories 80% of the time. Everyday Edits is my happy place where I can shut out the noise. A wise person told me “What we allow in stays in.” It’s why I stopped watching the national news almost a year ago. It’s why I love to watch Frasier reruns (that cast lost an executive producer who was flying with his wife from the east coast to LA on September 11th).
So for this Weekend Edit, I want to share a few of my favorite finds to bring more joy. Please share the funny and the happiness. I would love to hear about the volunteer work you do or the charities you support.
I am looking for the “one” that will align with my heart and my time.
