THE WEEKEND FRAUD ALERT
Happy Holiday Weekend! Did you wake up Friday morning and think it was Saturday? My holiday weekend kicked off on July 3rd with a fraud alert on my bank app.

When I called the telephone number listed under the suspicious pending charge the recording said: “We are experiencing a high volume of calls due to the rainstorms.” Click.
The click was on my side of the call, followed by a call to my bank. As we wrapped up the details on my call, I heard an additional caller and thought the bank representative was in a call center (do they still have call centers)? I heard an entire non-business conversation going on in the background. It sounded like gossip while someone was unloading a dishwasher.
It was hard to ignore. I leaned into my phone.
After we closed the fraudulent card the bank rep reminded me a new card would arrive in three business days. We said our goodbyes and Happy July 4th sentiments while the party was still going on in her home office or maybe a patio call center.
Either way the 4th of July had started earlier on her side of the timezone.

It was then I realized the party in the background was emitting from my phone. While holding my phone against my cheek and shoulder I accidentally activated a Tiktok or Youtube tutorial video (or is it a reel).? She must have thought I was having a party in the USA.
It reminded me of this funny customer support call.
Moving on
This was one of the first 4th of July weekends we did not spend in the mountains with all or most of our kids and their friends. Instead, we met our daughter and SIL with Elliott (our Bernese Mountain dog) and their Berner puppy, Russell at Wash Park in Denver.
Our middle joined us before he headed to a wedding in Montana. You know the venue is in a remote location when Google Maps can’t locate ” turn left at the yellow signpost.”
We suggested he screenshot the directions because of spotty wifi (I learned that tip while showing property in Evergreen).
After our walk, we ended up at the iconic Cherry Cricket Bar & Grill in Cherry Creek.
Our youngest has settled into city living and his lifelong allergies are non-existent since he landed in the concrete jungle.

QUESTION:
Where were you for the 4th of July?
WATCHING + READING + LOVING
- Please save this week’s Tuesday Tip for end-of-summer ideas.
- I am listening to The Librarian Spy. Fun fact: One of the actors in Gone with the Wind was killed when his commercial/private flight was shot down by the Germans.
- I did not make this blueberry crisp! Instead, we had ice cream for the 4th of July!
- I just got these kitchen dishtowels. The blue hides the coffee spills.
- My friend Carol shared how to update old frames! Love this!
- You can all make this wreath now that Amazon made this announcement.I
- With the holiday weekend I am sharing a few favorite projects from Everyday Edits!

SPEAKING OF CONCRETE THIS IS FUN WITH KIDS OR GRANS OR PUPPY PAW PRINTS

Please share these projects with others who love one hour projects and seasonal decor ideas.

Happy July 6th, Laura. I had a great 4th but a busy one. I attended a small gathering at my youngest son’s house, then on to a larger party with friends I’ve know forever. Ate too much and left before any fireworks to make sure Bentley (bernedoodle) wasn’t scared. Fortunately, the fireworks weren’t as loud as usual.
What a way to start the holiday with a “fraud alert”. I’m thankful the bank catches these things before there’s a mess, but it always gets my heart racing.
Have a great week.
Karen B.
Hi Karen, I emailed you back! You are a sweetheart! laur
Hello dear Laura, I have been using Invisible Glass for years and love it. I buy it by the case on Amazon. I’m sure you were relieved to hear E made it safely. Your flowers look gorgeous! Have a wonderful weekend.. PS… How did you like Shark Heart?
Hi Katie, I miss you during your summer hiatus. I am in the middle of Shark Heart.I will email you when I finish!
Hi Laura
Happy Summer!
I love flowers but many deer travel through our yards daily so I am limited to what I can grow as they eat almost everything!
We are back from a 10 day east coast cruise—lots of fun and the best part was taking extra days to visit family and friends in NYC. Now we are doing yard clean up at our home so that we can enjoy summer in Colorado!
