THE WEEKEND EDIT- OUT FOR BLOOD

Happy Weekending! Raise your hand if you had to remind yourself what day it was this week. I may be onto something when I shared this idea on The Weekend Edit .

I almost missed an appointment because I thought Wednesday was Tuesday. And by almost missed I mean I realized the meeting 36 hours in advance. I am a Virgo.

Today I am sharing my first job after college (not to be confused with my first job in high school)

My first job out of college was with a marketing department to convince college students and companies with more than 200 employees to donate blood.

I was like a party planner for blood donors. We served cookies and juice and the party lasted 30 minutes.

I was reminded of my first job this week when I donated blood on Wednesday, I mean Thursday, for the Children’s Hospital in Denver at a mobile donation site (hosted by a company).

I pumped out a pint in under six minutes. I think I could have donated another pint! There is something very powerful about helping another human’s life in less time than waiting in the Starbucks drive-thru on the first day of the Pumpkin Spice latte.

QUESTIONS

  1. What’s your sign?
  2. Have you been to a yard sale this season?
  3. Can anyone identify this herb in my elevated garden bed? It’s growing next to the Basil, but this looks different.

Notes: I shared this recipe a few years ago. Last week, I made it with a thicker graham cracker and butter crust. It has the texture of a cheesecake, but the plain Greek yogurt takes out some of the sugar.

Shop Notes: My favorite Nordicware baking finds!

I would love it if you subscribed to the Weekend Edit. If you have a friend, auntie, sister, mom, neighbor who may enjoy this please forward to them!

  1. Hi Laura
I attended nursing school and became an RN, so that was my only job as an adult. I worked in an insurance office in Manhattan after school during my junior and senior years of HS and as a nursing assistant on weekends. I saved enough money to go on vacation trips to Italy and Ireland after HS graduation!
Your fireplace reno is beautiful and your family is beautiful! We have two fireplaces in our home. Both are the “dreaded red brick,” which I know is considered out of style these days …but because I’m also old they do not bother me too much and I like the brick……lol
I love Nordic Ware pans and have way too many! You chose wonderful ones.
Your strawberry bars look delicious! Pinning that recipe.
    Have a good week!

    1. That is impressive Pat! Red brick is a classic! xo laura

  2. Hi, it looks like basil (going to seed). The leaves on the right side look like basil, however, on the left they do look different. Not much help. My daughter also thinks it looks like basil.

  3. Your herb looks a little like a variety of basil. Does it have a fragrance?
I’m an Aquarius. My best friend and my oldest son, his wife and my youngest son’s wife are Virgo! Haha. I always enjoy them, and I felt an immediate kinship with you.
I haven’t been to a yard sale in ages, but I visit a couple of local thrift stores whenever I have a minute. I love searching the aisles for hidden treasure. 😉
    Have a great Sunday.

  4. I was so confused last week what day it was! Those pina coladas sound yummy. The solar path lights have a broken link. Love your rug!
