THE WEEKEND EDIT CHICAGO IN NYC
Happy Weekend! It is a beautiful, chilly spring morning in Colorado!
We have a lunch date with our middle and some of his favorite people.
Our brother-in-law connects us all!
We are meeting my brother-in-law’s cousin and his family at Hops and Pie in Denver. Which means I will need a late afternoon nap.I am excited to see our brother-in-law’s side of the family. We last saw them at my sister’s and John’s wedding. Our middle was a newborn.
To this day, I remember my sister’s choice of champagne-colored bridesmaid dresses.
I looked like a baby elephant at the wedding.
NYC TRIP
We had a great time in NYC. It was a quick trip, and we logged many miles walking. My youngest had his hands full with his mom and auntie Tricia to manage.
Thankfully his sissy kept him from ditching us on the Subway.
Evan uses the Subway the way I use my Google Maps. We rely on our apps to go places. He does use Uber after a night out with friends.
Santa put Uber gift cards in their stockings for Christmas. That should be a Tuesday Tip next December!
During our trip, we saw Chicago (the musical). We arrived as they dimmed the lights.
We were late because we got locked inside a restaurant while waiting for our to-go order.
Yes, I wrote that correctly.
We got locked inside when I failed to read the sign instructing patrons to pull the door handle instead of pushing it. As soon as I pulled the door handle, the lock engaged, and seven patrons saw it happen.
The spare key was next door.
We grabbed takeout, thinking we could eat it on the way to the theatre. However, due to several scheduling glitches, we donated our takeout to a food shelter across the street from the Ambassador Theatre. A NYC police officer made the suggestion.
I reminded my frustrated adulting kids that the funniest memories are when plans go off the rails.
We took a few photos, but my adult kids ignored my text requests for photos, which means one or all of us do not look good.
He sent me three images of this photo capturing our adventures in the Big Apple after dinner in Brooklyn (Greenpoint). We had dinner at Oxomoco.
This is a Michelin-starred Restaurant because my youngest knows people. In this case, it was Evan’s tennis partner who works at this very cool Mexican restaurant with over 4,700 reviews. Thank you, E and E!

When I got home, this Pottery Barn plush throw was on the front porch. I stashed it in the closet until fall.
QUESTION: How do you feel about window treatments in the kitchen nook?
READING, WATCHING & LOVING
- I watched the show Pulse on the flight back to Denver.
- I am rewatching Brothers & Sisters on HULU. Two of my three kids would like this show. This time around, I relate more to Nora Walker.
- Found this yummy, gluten-free appetizer/meal (verify seasoning ingredients).
- This gluten free strawberry crisp is made with no wheat flour or oats.
- Costco has outdoor patio pillows for under $ 11.00.
- What is the last thing you bought at Costco ?

That trip sounded chaotic and fun filled! We were in Greenpoint on Easter for brunch. I haven’t been to Costco in a few weeks and can’t remember what I got there last…probably some staples. I will look for the outdoor pillows. I hope you’re having a great week!
I am so glad you had a good time in NYC! Chicago is a wonderful musical — I saw it years ago on its first go round.
We went to Fort Collins after Easter for a few days of R&R where we took some lovely scenic local drives and toured Odell Brewery. Our days this week have been full of grandson(s) lacrosse games–they are making up for rain/snow outs earlier in the season. It’s good to be busy!
Haha.. the trip will now forever be remembered as the time we locked ourselves in a restaurant. Weird to keep the key next door. Nice of you to donate the food.
I was just at Costco today.. their Mediterranean Crunch Chopped Salad Kit is my favorite salad base. I have tried other ones but I love this one the most.
Laura,
Thanks so much for stopping by!! I hope you are enjoying your weekend!!

I was surprised by a door in a restaurant have a mechanism that locks the door if you push the handle instead for pulling it. Seems an invitation to lock clients in in hopes for selling more food. Haha.
I love Costco and I guess I would have to say their roasted chicken cannot be beat for flavor and value ($5.00). Easy to use in a variety of dishes.
