Nothing says middle age like carrying a Soma bag while waiting in line in line at the trendy bar/restaurant Patron Loco in Old Town Scottsdale (with our college-age son). But I am getting ahead of myself.
We got away to Scottsdale while our floors were refinished. In the rush to get our suitcases to the car (as the floor guys were sealing off every room) guess what I forgot to pack?
My undergarments. And, that’s how I ended up with the Soma bag. We made the trek to the mini-mall of America in Scottsdale. I skipped Nordstrom because I thought I would have an easier time finding my size at Soma. Don’t ask.
I explained to the saleslady what happened and she pointed me to the table and then she asked me for my size with a slight edge or as my daughter would say, “tone.”
Okay, I have definitely put on a few pounds, but I think I still look small-ish. So I immediately think does my butt look like a medium? I committed to the small and grabbed my half dozen pairs and got out of there.
And, that’s how I ended up on the waitlist at this thumping bumping bar my son clearly enjoyed more than say a suburban restaurant.
In an attempt to look slightly less middle-aged I grabbed the tissue-wrapped undergarments (my sister hates the word panties), and discreetly tucked them into my travel handbag and ditched the Soma bag.
After I got my underwear issue resolved I settled into this book at the pool. I overheard another mom talking about it and I love it. This is also the first book I have listened to. I know, right? The problem is I have fallen asleep twice while listening. Maybe I should listen to it during workouts. Either way, it is a good read.
Last weekend is almost a distant memory. We came home to the slight headache-inducing smell of fresh stain scent. We opted to stay another night at a local hotel in Castle Rock and to add to my middle age mindset we ate at Village Inn.
But now, we are home, dogs are quarantined in the basement until we settle in a bit. But these refinished floors make the dust, additional hotel rental, take out, dining out, overnight doggy daycare, plastic wrap, furniture movers, plants in the bathtub, and the cost to hire movers to move the furniture twice… worth it.
So in between the floors, flights and underwear, I shared a few posts you might have missed.
- This super easy spring tray.
- These suggestions if you are thinking about rearranging your furniture.
- I ordered this rug pad because it is Made in the USA.
- Oh I am reading (listening) to this audio book.

The SOMA bag is a huge tell, but breakfast at Village Inn? Whoa! Next you’ll be grabbing donuts after mass, clutching a bulletin to prove you were there!
What an adventure! I’m jealous of the pooltime!
