the Weekend Edit where I share all the random thoughts and finds
Happy Weekend! We have almost balmy weather here in Colorado, but we desperately need snow.
I sent my youngest son a text that maybe I needed a Tik Tok account. That was on Monday. Crickets.
He must not be on his phone now that classes started. #wink
FAMILY
I snapped this photo when Evan said he needed a Linkedin profile pic to match his extensive work experience as a tennis coach and car lot attendant at a friend’s Audi dealership.
My husband saw his temporary profile photo when he got a notification he may know Evan. My husband texted me and said something to the effect that Evan’s photo was “rough.” So I snapped a few photos before he left for school. I told him to wear something collegiate and not the jacket and tie his dad suggested. I told him potential employers or contacts just want to see that he cleans up well and doesn’t have any distractions like a teardrop tattoo under his eye.
Sidenote: We had a great conversation about Post Malone (Google him) and the possible “whys” behind his face and body tattoos.
Lucky for me, my boys are terrified of needles. Elliott was right next to Evan when we took this action photo.
BLOG FRIENDS
I love my blog friends and family.
However, and maybe you can relate, they are the hardest friendships to describe to family and friends. Because they always ask, ” So you have never actually met this person?”
And, I’m like I KNOW her (or him). It’s like we are neighbors and friends (frieneighbors).
How many of you can relate?
Speaking of blogging, if you are looking to join a Mastermind Group please reach out to this blogger. It changed my blog focus and helped me with goals and content and strategies. I have signed on for a few more months because it holds me accountable.
One of my goals is to reply to a blogger’s email versus the comments. I know comments are good for pageviews and such, but when I replied to comments I realized only if the blogger returns to that post does he or she see my reply. Does that make sense?
My friend Heather at Our Life in a Click explained this to me. I always thought my replies went straight back to the blogger’s comments on their blog dashboard.
If you are not following Katie at Preppy Empty Nester, you must. I think I signed my sister up for her blog to get her latest reads and Netflix favorites. She has a dozen book reviews every month.
I save her emails until I can read them with no distractions.
I shared my inspiration for a living room library from this lady. Read my Instagram post to get the 20-word version of how we met.
Anyway. My husband loves Heather’s blog name and Katie’s. He hasn’t said much about mine ;0) since I rebranded from this previous blog. My boys used to say, “but mom … aren’t you a …”
Sidenote: My boys would come home from tennis drills and say, “Mom the cougars were watching Coach “young coach” playing tennis.
It still cracks me up to think they kinda got it even at the ages of eight and ten.
OUR LIVING ROOM LIBRARY PLANS
When Covid hit we discovered our living room. It was the room we all passed to get to the kitchen or the family room (the one with the television is how I reminded my boys of the difference between the two rooms).
Here is the room today and here is where we are headed.
Favorite Find this Month
My daughter bought me this dry hair texture spray for Christmas (and this silk pillow here).
It’s true, my hair has never looked better after a night of fighting the covers with a 100 pound Bernese Mountain dog, Chloe Elliott has taken over the chaise in the living room. #argh
Haha! I’m glad I was able to explain something to someone! I wish the replies came back to my blog dashboard –that would be nice. I didn’t know leaving comments as replies was good for page views but I don’t worry much about that stuff. That’s nice your husband likes my blog name. I’m the same way trying to describe something a “blog friend” has said, done (or sent me). They are all used to it by now. Waiting on your TikTok. I took headshots for both of my girls recently. They always need them for LinkdIn and new jobs. I got a silk pillow case for Christmas and I love it!
Love that library. How beautiful. I am glad you reached out on my blog now I have found yours. I just signed up for email notifications. Love your sweet blog. Happy Friday and have a good weekend. xoxo Kris
