I recently relocated this hutch to the dining room. Followed by my decision to move the console table along the wall between the living and dining rooms. With a high-traffic location on the main level, the pressure was on to step up my tabletops pop for fall! I figured out the trick to make your tabletops pop!

I moved these Pottery Barn mirrors into the hallway because light and mirrors are best friends unless you are taking a selfie.

PS The mirrors are on sale.

The table was content living its best buffet/console life. It was simple and not fussy.

But the table was a little too calm for my personality. It looked bored. It wanted more than to be a placeholder for a faux plant.

I started to take inventory of the xe excessive amount of fall decor in my plastic bin.

The trick to decorating a console table is to figure out a balance. If you don’add enough it looks lost. And if you add too much it starts to resemble the clearance aisle at Hobby Lobby.

.But the trick to take your console table to the next level is to add height to the table.

Height adds visual interest to the buffet, sideboard, or console table.

I got the idea when I moved my office hutch to the dining room.

The hutch filled an empty arch so I had the space to add pumpkins and plants and faux mums.

But the trick was adding visual, vertical interest to the hutch and eventually my console table.
