THE BEST REMODEL TIP

My husband and I have remodeled three bathrooms, and we are still married. married.

The first remodel was in our lower level (the basement. We started the project the weekend before Thanksgiving.

We thought that with my sister’s planned visit, we could knock out the tile floor in half the time. The only thing worse than me using a tile chisel and hammer is my sister and I sharing a chisel and hammer.

IMy husband not only had to deal with our boredom, but he also got double the sassy between me and my sissy.

In our defense, we had to make green beans, buy a Costco pumpkin pie, and watch the annual Friends Thanksgiving marathon. After the holidays, we regrouped and finished the basement bathroom.

We took ten years off to regroup. When our daughter went off to college, we filled the void of our baby girl gone (we still had her brothers at home) with a bathroom remodel in her bedroom/guest room bathroom.

This remodel was “easier” because we knew what to expect and invested our time in planning.

We forgot that what comes off the shower’s walls and floor must be hauled out to the Home Depot dumpster bag! This is where the nickname of our house, our brownstone in the suburbs, turns into a nightmare down four flights of stairs to get to the dumpster bag. r

I shared the boys’ Jack & Jack bathroom remodel here, but I did not let you all in on the secret. It’s more like a tip than a secret. Either way, here we go.

We hired a demo crew. The two-member crew took two hours to measure the bathroom and work up a bid after a text inquiry.
