THE CUTEST SPRING CARROT WREATH

March 9, 2021

How to make the cutest spring wreath with carrots from Hobby Lobby

I want to learn how to make wreaths with boys and florals and greenery, but not today. Instead, I made the cutest spring carrot wreath with two items! I am so excited about how this wreath looks on our dutch door. You guys will love this carrot wreath because the supply list is short and there are no wire cutters needed.

If I can make this you can make this wreath.

CUTEST SPRING CARROT WREATH

The supply list is super short. I already had this wreath.

I found the cutest carrot bundles at Hobby Lobby. On sale (no more coupons).

Sidenote: I get Hobby Lobby’s emails and I like the layout of their list of sales items.

These were the small carrot bundles on sale for a few dollars. I snagged three pairs (of three).

Then this the technical part: you take your wreath, fluff it up a bit. You can also do this with an extra wreath with this popular hack.

. Following the fluffing add the carrot bundles in no particular order or direction to the wreath.

The bundles are attached with twine so it made it easy to loop the carrots around the leaves.

You guys as soon as I started I loved the wreath. I loved the orange and green color combination. In Colorado, we tend to favor orange paired with blue. #broncos

I added it to our newest addition to the family. No, not that! Our Dutch door. We ordered it last January and it was installed last spring. The Dutch door was a bright light last spring.

If I could just get Elliott to pose behind the Dutch door. Somehow I don’t think he can hoist himself onto the door’s lower half. What do you think?

After taking a few photos and propping up the carrots I decided the wreath needed a bow. So I found a way to add a little navy to the orange and green!

I snagged this bow from another wreath.

I think the bow makes the wreath, don’t you? What do you think? The best part is I can switch out the carrots for seasonal picks through the year. For less than $10 I have a refreshed wreath to welcome spring.

HOW TO UPDATE A WREATH IN A MINUTE

October 10, 2020

Who has a wreath habit? Just like dishes from HomeGoods I am a bit of wreath hoarder. My first blog post when I blogged under another name, was a garage sale wreath refresh. But, this wreath update is with a brand new wreath from HomeGoods. I know why would I mess with something new? But it is just the touch I wanted on our new dutch door that leads to the backyard. So here is how to update a wreath in a minute.

ONE MINUTE WREATH UPDATE

Any wreath. In a minute-ish.

It will add a little personality to what is already a beautiful seasonal wreath.

Any guesses? Skip to the comments to guess.

HOW TO UPDATE A WREATH IN A  MINUTE

Bells. Bells are my new obsession to add a  touch of whimsy to any wreath. My family would call it a touch of something else. #wink

No matter how young or old, bells add a little sassy to a wreath.

Here’s the backstory:

I love bells, chimes and more bells. Bells make a frequent appearance on my interior doors during the holidays. And, then when I refreshed my front door I added a bell.

With the dutch door leading to the back yard and patio, I thought a bell would be a nice little chime when Chloe or Elliott come barreling through their new favorite door.

To begin, I simply pulled the leaves back to expose the grapevine wreath. With my new favorite craft accessory, from a dollar store. They sell this jute-wrapped wire at Hobby Lobby, but I found it a dollar store and thought I would give it a try.

I attached the bells to the wreath. I intentionally offset them to the side. For this closeup, I pulled the branches back, but I usually hide the jute with the leaves.

That’s it! It took about a minute to add the bells. It took longer to hang the wreath because I did not account for the upper half of the door to swish the top of the wreath.

I am on my 2nd nail in the new dutch door.

What do you think? I chose some bells that were not as clangy as the bell on the front door. At this rate, I might end up like the little old lady who hoards wreaths, dishes and bells oh and Bernese Mountain dogs.

Would love a fresh pin!

Garage Sale Wreath Makeover

September 6, 2019

Here’s a post before my rebrand. With redirects and pins, I have had to repost a few favorite projects. This garage sale wreath makeover is a seasonal favorite and cost me under $5.00.

Garage Sale Wreath Makeover Before

Because it was one of my original posts, I don’t have the before photos but imagine a really dusty, cobwebbed and feather filled wreath that I picked up for a $1.00 at a garage sale.

The wreath’s smell did not hit me until I had it in my car. I would have passed on this wreath if I had detected the damp, basement smell.

I am so happy I did not sniff the wreath and I am thrilled I had the windows down on the drive home!

But, I am telling you finding this tired, worn-out wreath was destiny. Dusty destiny, but destiny.

What I loved about this wreath, sitting on the driveway, was the size of the grapevine and its potential.

Makeover Details

  • removed the picks that were broken or beyond the makeover
  • placed the wreath outside to air out
  • sprayed the wreath with vinegar & water. repeat. repeat.

Because this was a garage sale find I stayed with the thrifty budget and used the miscellaneous leaves that fall off the garland. You know the leaves and pinecones and sticks that fall to the bottom of the box or storage tub? I just grabbed a few of those and fresh pinecones and either glued or tucked them into the wreath.

It was an instant makeover. I paid $3.00 for the wreath.

The size of the wreath takes up the width of the front door which I love. My motto: go big or go home.

With garage sale season in full gear, take a second look at those dingy wreaths, crafts and accessories.
