What is it about a Rice Krispie treat that takes us back to our childhood. After school, we would run through the front door and find a pan of these famous cereal treat bars on the linoleum counter. With five kids, we devoured mom’s pan of the marshmallow and crispy rice cereal. So it seemed only right to add my own twist and make Rice Krispie S’mores for a recent family gathering.

It got me thinking about the history of the classic corn cereal and marshmallow combo and I found this fun read.
On hot nights Rice Krispie treats are perfect because they don’t require an oven. Even better than that I can make these ahead of time to enjoy s’more time with family and friends.

For a fun take on the classic, I created my take of s’mores with the classic Rice Krispies recipe.
For a yummy after dinner treat with no fire pit required.
Remember following a recipe is not my thing.

The second best thing about Rice Krispie S’mores is even with my pre-menopausal brain, I can remember the ingredients.
However, I tend to have a stockpile of marshmallows and chocolate bars.

Add a couple tablespoons of butter and away you go with these s’mores.
These Rice Krispie S’mores are a knockoff the classic s’mores without the need for a fire pit.

I used this aluminum, made in the USA pan. I think I bought mine on sale from Williams-Sonoma. Either way, I love these versatile and easy to clean pans.


RICE KRISPIE S’MORES
Ingredients
- 8 CUPS MINI MARSHMALLOWS 10-12 IF YOU WANT THICKER BAR
- 4 TBSP. BUTTER
- 6 HERSHEY MILK CHOCOLATE BARS
- 6-10 CUPS RICE KRISPIE CEREAL 6 CUPS FOR 1 PAN , 8-10 IF YOU WANT A THICKER BAR
Instructions
- I doubled the batch to make these Rice Krispie S'mores extra thick. 1.Fold half the Rice Krispie +marshmallow "batter" into a 9×12 pan.2. Place the Hershey bars across the first layer. 3. Fold the 2nd half of the cereal + marshmallow batter over the chocolate bars.4. Let it set and cut into graham cracker size s'mores.
