ADD CHRISTMAS DECOR TO A HOME OFFICE
I work from home because I am naturally a homebody and I am not much for office chit-chat. Ask my colleagues. The homebody side of me balances my Realtor life where I show and sell other people’s homes. So this year I decided to add a little Christmas decor to my home office. My office is my quiet space where I spend the bulk of the day so why not add a little Christmas cheer with garland and lights?
EASY CHRISTMAS DECOR IN A HOME OFFICE
Both me and my husband work from home. One of us has worked from home for almost two decades and the other one loves his new home office in the lower level (aka basement). He loves the convenience of climbing the two flights of stairs for an in-person reply. #snarkywife
I thought if I added a Christmas tree to his cozy home office, he would not need to climb stairs and stare at the tree in our family room while he updates me with his schedule.
My home office is my space and I admit I have annexed the entire main floor to be my creative space. I can wait for an accepted offer on a listing while photographing future blog post details.

It is a tight fit in my office for a tree, but pine garland is perfect. It adds a little Christmas decor without having to fight the Wise Men to find a client’s file.
I wanted something understated with lights for when the sun sets a few minutes after four in the afternoon.

Do you know how many types of garlands exist? I knew the style I liked I just did not know the proper name. Apparently, I am a long-needle pine girl.
You can check out the variety of garlands I found on America’s first home improvement show (and now a blog).
LONG NEEDLE PINE GARLAND
I found my favorite long-needle pine garland at this Etsy shop.
I eventually found their website. They routinely offer free shipping or sales.
What makes this pine garland different is the faux needles are so soft and pliable. If you have ever found yourself scaling a mantel and getting a pine needle up your nose you will appreciate the pliable and soft needles.
Sidenote: I thought the needle had made contact with my olfactory nerve.

So to kick off the holidays I decorated my newly painted dining room hutch that had a relocation to my home office. I added a birdhouse from a challenge last year and a little red berry sphere for a pop of color against the Hale Navy walls.

Some of you may recognize these branches. I love these curated branches from my yard.

Would love a pin!Â

Laura,
I love this garland. Now I need to decorate my workshop. Thanks for the inspiration. Love doing these together.
What a pretty garland! I adore the white cabinet too. So happy to be on tour with you!
Laura, I love the sugar pine needle garland you’ve found! It is really nice!! This summer I found the garland I am using on our mantel this year, and it, too, was very realistic looking. I know you will enjoy your pretty garland every time you sit in your office. Very festive!!
Hugs,
Barb 🙂
Your garland is beautiful Laura!
thank you cindy! I love these challenges! Merry Christmas! laura
What a beautiful display on top of your hutch with the pine garland. Love the urn in here too and did you make the red berry sphere? Pinning!
I need to remember Etsy when ordering things. I love that pine needle garland and it looks so festive on your cabinet. And how nice to actually get a hand written note?! That’s something you don’t see anymore. I’d love working in your office. Hope your Thanksgiving is wonderful and filled with laughter and memories. Having the kids home is awesome, right?! Thanks for joining in. pinned
Your garland looks lovely atop your beautiful white hutch. The navy wall contrast is stunning, too!
Pinned for inspiration!

Your garland looks beautiful!
We were on the same wavelength on this one! If you’ve got some pretty in your work area, it inspires you! Love the white cabinet against the navy walls, and the green garland with it; so striking!
Hi lora, thank you! I do love the navy walls! laura
Laura, what a great idea to decorate your office with garland. Since we spend so much time there, it should also be decorated. I love your choice of long needle garland. It looks so real. The branches from your yard are a great contrast to the greenery.
Yes, go decorate your home office Carol! It makes paying the bills a little more fun! ;0)
