If you were to pick your least favorite day of the week which day would you pick? Sunday or Monday Or Tuesday? Which day? I dreaded Mondays because the dread crept into my Sundays. But now? Now I celebrate Mondays as a fresh start to a new week! It was time for Monday to be recognized with a National Monday Day title.
Let’s face it, Monday has it rough. It will never win the best day of the week award as long as it has to compete with Friday.
I wonder if Monday secretly wants to pull a Mean Girls moment on Thursday? You know make a plan to edge out the more popular day of the week?
We cannot dismiss the popularity of Thursday. The fourth day of the week continues to gain in popularity polls as companies (and school districts) eliminate the 5th workday in the week.
So with many of us dreading the return to commuting, making sack lunches or fighting those resolutions just remember today is not about us.
Today is National Monday Day.
Monday earned the national Monday title.
Today is an opportunity to organize our lives to make the most of the week.
It is no coincidence that National Monday Day takes place on the first day back to school after winter break & the first full work after a month filled with parties, white elephants and cookie exchanges.
So, it feels right that today, the first Monday of the new year and new decade claims the national title.
Maybe National Monday Day is a reminder to rethink the way we look at Mondays. Maybe the Day is a reminder to reset our goals, organize our home- offices, clean out our refrigerators, sort thru those paint cans and take a minute to celebrate new opportunities, relationships and goals.
Happy National Monday Day
