LOOK WHERE I PUT MY VINTAGE MILK CAN

It’s been a while since I updated my vintage milk can. I found my metal milk can at a garage sale.

But the short version of this garage sale find is that no one in my family likes this dated, dented metal can

—except me. I love the seasonal challenge to decorate it.

The best way to describe how I decorated this season’s fall-themed milk can was to think of the milk can as an oversized vase.

STEPS TO DECORATE A VINTAGE MILK CAN

1. Clean the interior of the milk can.
2. But first, check for a bee or wasp nest. That was a painful find!
3. Stuff the bottom of the milk can with Amazon boxes to fill the cavernous space.
4. Add fall stems and garland strands to the milk can.

Another option is to fill a vase with floral stems and drop the vase into the milk can.

DETAILS.

A milk can is a substantial vase when you measure it from the height of the base to the top of the stems. Because of this, a milk can centerpiece works well in an empty entry, corner, or in front of a window to hide a not-so-pretty view.

Over the years, this vintage find has been inside and outside.

This season’s milk can is in front of a living room window.

With leftover fall stems, I filled the milk can like I would fill a vase. I just added stems to the can. It was so easy!
