LOOK HOW I REPURPOSED BELTS
I love belts! Some of my favorites come from Target and J. Crew Factory (JCF). Belts are an underrated accessory, which is the perfect reason to add a new skill set to this waist-defining accessory. This led me on a path to repurpose belts from a fashion accessory to a decorative accessory.
One year, I raided my boys’ closet to borrow a Vineyard Vines tennis theme belt. Before you get rid of the belts hanging out in the closets, check out a few decor ideas.

HOW TO REPURPOSE BELTS INTO THE DECOR
Curious? Let’s go!
Once a year, my husband ( aka my kids’ baby dadd) goes through his closet and creates a pile for Goodwill. That’s not quite right
. He creates a pile and puts it in the trash.
Knowing his idea of ‘worn’ is different from mine, I raid his trash bag and drop it off at Goodwill. He has tossed freshly pressed button-down shirts.
I told him he should do this hot-flash trick with his collared shirts.
Then, when he’s done, I sort through his piles and snag a few clothing items or accessories. It is also how I hid a bathroom demo from my husband.

New Uses for Belts.
- Attach a belt to a pillow. It updates the pillow and gives it a Boho or Anthropologie pillow vibe!

2. Next, use belts to gather drapes. It is an unexpected way to corral window treatments.
Now, if you are like me, you do not have identical belts hanging on your belt hanger in your closet.
I do have a few windows with one drapery. This is where you want to use a belt to tighten a drape.
Tip: Shop the children’s clothing aisle at Target or Kohl’s for clearance and pint-size belts. Youth-size belts are great because they provide a snug fit on a drape.
3. Use a belt and tie it around a throw. It gives a polished look to a throw on a couch or chair.

4. Wrap a brown or black belt around a bundle of firewood and add it to your fireplace hearth!
For a winter scene on a hearth, use a leather belt to wrap firewood. A large buckle iwll make it stand out on a fireplace or hearth. It gives it a Ralph Lauren interior look (with my husband’s donated belts)

The only thing you need to remember is that your belt may be wrapped around a bundle of firewood when you forget you added it to your fireplace hearth!

If you close your eyes, you can picture a scene from the set of Yellowstone. It’s like a Ralph Lauren look on a Target budget!
5. Dress up an ottoman with a belt. Cinch a belt around a small ottoman to add texture.
You can add it in the center of the ottoman, or I like to position the belt 2/3 down (or up) from the ottoman. It’s a little unexpected and a little like an Anthropologie pillow vibe.
