Do you know that feeling when you have your keys in one hand and Amazon returns in the other, and you pass by your dog’s water bowl?
This is a universal feeling- guilt.
When the water bowl level is nearly empty.
And for a split second, you think there is enough water …
And then in less than a second, you shrug your shoulders, put your bag and returns down, and grab the water bowl.
Because look at this face…
After filling the water bowl, you walk back across the kitchen floor or patio as if on a tightrope, hoping the water does not wobble and spill onto the floor.
Here is a dog water bowl hack for your furry friends on those busy days.
I found this Igloo mid-size cooler at Kroger. I had plans to fill it with water or iced tea.
Sidenote: the seasonal aisle at Kroger has great deals after the most recent holiday.
But that plan was derailed when the bargain dispenser was too big for the refrigerator.
WATER BOWL TIPS
Like just about every problem-solving solution, this tip solved a problem. It allowed me to fill the water bowl on Sunday and add ice cubes and water throughout the week.
- Fill the beverage container with fresh water on Sunday evenings.
- Remember: this water tip is for the “I am running out the door” manic mornings.
- I just add ice and water.
- Now it’s a beverage bar for Elliott.
- And the best part was that the beverage dispenser included a spigot that fits above his water bowl.
I also hauled out our Igloo cooler and placed it in the garage entry for the days we are outside and Elliott hangs out in the front yard.
If you follow me on Instagram, Elliott loves to hang out in the car (windows open with supervision).
If you have the grans for the weekend or children who cannot reach the faucet or a spouse who needs to be trained to use a glass- this water cooler works for all ages and stages.
It is nice to have water in the front or backyard when doing yard work
. Unless you are looking for a way out so you can do anything but yard work.

To keep myself from forgetting I have made up a morning routine, when I feed our pup in the morning, I grab two clean dog dishes, fill one with enough water for the day and the other dish for her breakfast. Easy peasy!
