LOOK AT MY NAVY BLUE OFFICE l

I love my navy blue home office. It is my happy place which sounds odd for a work space.

When my husband ended his office lease we (mostly me) set some ground rules.

My home office is situated on the main level with subtle morning light. This is where I manage buyer and seller needs, and deadlines. It is where I draft blog posts in the early hours before the emails need responses or unfollows.

NAVY BLUE WALLS

When remote offices became a thing I decided to paint my walls a navy blue with Hale Navy by Benjamin Moore. I watched Bridget Jones 1 & 2 while I painted. I love, love, love the navy walls (and the first Bridget Jones). Sidenote: There will be a 4th movie.

Everything in my office pops against the navy blue office walls.

MOLDING

We added molding to the wall opposite my desk. The hardest part of the project was the math. We bought the molding at Home Depot. It is an expensive addition and adds depth and a touch of sophistication to a wall or room.

WOOD ELEMENTS

When we bought our brownstone in the suburbs home we added pecan-stained shelves and cabinets.

You know I love to pair blue and green, but I love the look of wood against blue and green.

My office desk was a Pottery Barn floor sale find. We realized the size of it makes it a bit of a challenge to fit into an office( hence the price reduction).

But it works great as an extra dining room table for Thanksgiving.

FIDDLE LEAF FAUX PLANT AND A WHITE CLOCK POP IN A ROOM WITH NAVY BLUE WALLS

I found this chair at World Market. It is an upholstered chair with cushion in all the right places.

With the early morning light, the room has a dark and stormy vibe (my family would say moody) vibe).

I found this fiddle tree at Homegoods a few years ago. It works great in my office and requires no water. I found this one online.

OVERSIZED WOOD CLOCK

To compliment the stained bookcase I added an oversized wood clock from our family room. A girlfriend gave me this sign for Christmas. We are both real estate agents and when she saw it she said she had to get it for me.

I love it and it makes me smile because she knows me.

When we had our hardwood floors refinished we took advantage of the movers bringing the furniture back to the main level.

On a whim, I asked the movers to move our dining room hutch to my home office.

PAINTED HUTCH

PAINTED WITE OFFICE HUTCH POPS AGAINST NAVY BLUE WALLS

This hutch now holds camera equipment, lockboxes, paper files, and a stack of frames that need photos. Check out what the hutch looked like a few years ago.

With a fresh coat of Mascarpone, the hutch provided much-needed storage shelves behind sliding doors. Those are glass panes that I painted so I didn’t see the mess behind the sliding hutch door.

I love the pop of white against the blue walls. I decorate the top of it with seasonal decor because this girl needs pumpkins under contract deadlines.

SEATING

Finally, I wanted a comfy chair when my kids are working/studying from home or just to mix up my seating arrangements.

I found this chair on Amazon and it is boxy and commy just like my clothes post 2020. The sherpa fabric adds an unexpected style to the office.
