Do you ever wish Christmas occurred on January 25th? Where’s the harm in a wish? Just imagine if our houses were decked out with lights on the coldest nights of the year? Imagine driving into your driveway with an inflatable Frosty the Snowman greeting you a the end of a January day? Colorado doesn’t even get snow until the end of January.
What if we could catch our breath between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve? And, maybe hover a little longer over Thanksgiving. I think the retailers and small business shops would love the four extra weeks of sales & daily deals. Don’t you? I wish I could start a movement around the idea that January needs a little Christmas.
Maybe we need a Survey Monkey to gauge the interest around the idea January needs a little Christmas? Until that happens, I will keep a few interior white lights and greenery up just a little longer.
Oh, and maybe the red & green M&M’s I found at Target for 90% off on Monday when I HAD to buy a new coffee pot. I just think January needs a little Christmas because we can’t mess with the Super Bowl in February. Well some of us in Denver might vote to delete this year’s Bronco season.
We have a real tree and before we haul it out the front door I snap as many branches from the trunk and replace the holiday faux garland with fresh boughs of holly. They smell wonderful and extend the season a few more days (weeks) into January. Last year, I shared how we upcycled our Christmas tree here.
I keep some of the red & white stuff out for Valentine’s Day.

I want to pull pine cones and white fluffy ornaments together with a few candles for a low key tablescape for the dining room. The sign in the background is my motto for the month of January.
