I LOVE MY SUMMER TO FALL HUTCH
My dining room hutch is one of my favorite pieces of furniture.
When I was asked to participate in a seasonal roundup hosted by Susan at at From Bay to the Beach and Mary Jo at at Masterpieces of My Life
and a group of decor enthusiasts, I was all in for a tour with my summer-to-fall hutch.
Over the years, my hutch has traveled across the main floor of our brownstone in the suburbs home.
Most recently, I painted it Mascarpone creamy white.
I made the bold decision to paint the glass panes with the same buttercream shade of white.
With the Hale Navy walls against the soft white hutch, it is like two hearts beat as one. I doubt Bono was thinking of paint colors when he wrote that song. The Hale Navy walls.
It is my favorite color
Painting the glass window panes removed the pressure to keep the hutch shelves neat. Sometimes I just want to shove vases or sidewalk chalk for my nieces into the hutch t and not worry about the cluttered look.
BRANCHES AND BIRDHOUSE AND PUMPKINS
With the featured wall in place it was time to decorate the hutch for fall.
I knew the pumpkins I was going to use for the hutch.
The hutch is the backdrop for this fall dining room. With navy walls, I love toadd a pop of orange with pumpkins for fall.
But because Colorado summers lean into September, I like to add my collection of birdhouses to the fall hutch. It is a subtle reminder that it is still summer.
FALL HUTCH ELEMENTS
I have had this metal urn for years. It is versatile and looks great with the hutch and the navy walls. It fills in the space between the hutch and the ceiling. You can see it in this storage tip I made for my YouTube channel.
WHITE URN
ADD STEMS
I kept the green stems and these branches as a nod to summer.
I found the green stems at Hobby Lobby. I shopped my backyard for the sticks!
From there, I added the birdhouse because who doesn’t love a birdhouse?
Ironically, we have a bird’s nest in our front door wreath. I think the wreath had better amenities.
I like to transiton from season to season with a nod to the previous season.
I ove this hutch because it gets a makeover every season!

That Navy and creamy white combo is gorgeous! I love how you kept a few summery touches like the birdhouse and green stems in the mix — such a fun, easy way to transition the hutch into fall!

I like the bold statement the stem-filled white urn makes against the blue wall. (I too am fond of blue walls!) Birdhouses provide such a wide range of decorative inspiration — this one’s clean lines are a nice contrast to the curves of the urn.
Your newly painted white hutch looks lovely and quite striking against the navy wall. The white really pops and draws attention to whatever you are displaying. The urn looks great painted white and adds an architectural element to the hutch. Using the navy bird house is a nice contrast. Love the hammered pulls.

Navy is a great color for a backdrop to fall. Especially for the oranges. And I’ve never thought to add a birdhouse. Love that idea. You’ve inspired me to get out and find some branches from your yard. Bring on the fall!
