HOW TO MAKE A THRIFTY ST. PATRICK’S TIERED TRAY

March 3, 2022

Hello March! I am so happy you arrived with warmer temps and minutes of more daylight every day! Of course, in Colorado, we will likely have snow in April. In exciting and first world problem news I have a new favorite color! It showed up on my St. Patrick’s tiered tray. That’s right I am adding Kelly green or spring green to my decor. I just love this fresh pop of color. It reminds me spring is on the way! My favorite decor staple is my tiered tray.

They can be a bit pricey, but I use my wood tiered tray every month. So as soon as I cleared away my Valentine’s Day tray decor I staged the same tray with a St. Patrick’s theme.

Oh, and I spent less than $7.00 for the entire St. Patrick’s theme.

Those tiered tray bundles on Etsy can get pricey.

ST. PATRICK’S DAY TIERED TRAY

What I love about a tiered tray is it is very low maintenance. It is a stage it and forget about it-accessory.

Trays can be fussy and fancy or plain and simple. I see tiered trays that are staged like a custom home.

My tiered trays are more like a Winnebago. Lots of potential, cute and no statement pieces on site. ;0) #realtorlife

ST. PATRICK’S DAY

Unfortunately, for St. Patrick, his day of celebration is sandwiched between Valentine’s Day and Easter. The good thing is the color green can stay in cruise control from St. Patrick’s Day until Starbucks releases the Pumpkin Spice latte.

To keep the costs down to decorate a two-tiered tray I like to shop my house for green accessories that are small enough to fit into either the top or lower level.

A tiered tray is like a townhome where you have to navigate your furniture to either the main level or the upper level.

Choose your accessories wisely or you could have a cute farmhouse truck that is banished from the St. Patrick’s tray and sent to the basement coffee table. .

I found these two cute signs at Hobby Lobby and Homegoods.

IDEAS TO DECORATE WITH GREEN

I bought one can of Rustoleum spray paint and painted a glass jar and woodblocks from a DIY project.

This is a repurposed candle jar and lid. I saved it for this project, but decided to spray paint it for this tray.

I think it looks perfect against the white tray.

I created a few shamrocks and printed them. I patiently cut around the paper-thin shamrocks and traced them onto wood trim pieces with a Sharpie. I bought this Sharpie set for all my craft projects.

I planned to use wool pom-poms as I used here, but I decided one must use pom poms in moderation.

The wood blocks, from previous projects, are a great and inexpensive way to decorate. I may add a second shade of green paint to add more contrast.

I used leftover wired ribbon and simply tied it around a wood block. It adds a bit a softness to the tray,

Thanks for stopping by today! I love how quickly a tiered tray comes together. It’s simple and adds a pop of color and holiday to the kitchen table. Thank you for stopping by today! I would love it if you pinned this to your Pinterest boards!
