BEFORE AND AFTER DINING ROOM

I have a love/not love relationship with our dining room.

Dining rooms are the size of a parking spot at the mall, but most of us only use them for holidays, seasons, and temporary storage.

We create tablescapes and settings for the holidays and seasons. They are like royalty. They are the center of attention until the next day after every holiday or party!

I tried this tip to see if I could change the feel of this space and I spent a Saturday morning moving our table and and chairs counterclockwise. I had big dreams!

My goal was to find a way to use this off ethe kitchen space for the non-holidays. I just could notpull it together.

But I love so many things about this space. I refer to the dining room table as our giving tree!

And it all began when I repainted these walls. Except my first shade of blue was painful. I picked the Robin’s egg blue.

This is the color I chose for our dining room, I know.

My friend and painter must have cringed when I chose this color.

BEFORE AND AFTER DINING ROOM

Let’s take a look at where it began:

LOOK AT MY DINING ROOM BEFORE HALE NAVY!

We replaced the wood chairs with white upholstered dining room chairs on clearance at Williams-Sonoma.

I had a $47 credit and ended up buying four upholstered chairs and a bench.

Until that purchase, I had no idea Williams-Sonoma sold anything other than bakeware and these super-absorbent dish towels.

Our dining room is a part of the family.

Below are a few of my favorite stories and projects in the dining room.

I just removed the sisal rug under the dining room. It turns out sisal is a magnet for dog hair and dust bunnies.

Please share for others to find!
