Sharing budget friendly tips and ideas for the Valentine season.
Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays that is smushed between the show stopper holidays like Christmas and Mardi Gras. When my kids were in grade school it was all about Sponge Bob Valentines and Nike shoebox mailboxes. Now, these budget friendly Valentine tips will give your home just enough pinks and reds without looking like Sugarplum fairy who stayed a little too long after the party.

Sidenote: Last year I sent my adulting kids popcorn tins from the Popcorn Factory and called it good. I paid for an annual free shipping pass at Popcorn Factory.
When I just want my kids or family members to know I am thinking about them I send them a little somethin’ somethin’.
Right now any of my family members who read Everyday Edits is thinking they never received a popcorn tin. ;0)
Now back to our regular scheduled post on thrifty Valentine’s Day ideas.

At my house I don’t have enough Valentine decorations to fill a storage tub. But I do love the pops of pink added to my home in February.
Over the last two years, as my nest empties, I find myself getting my craft on again I have a few tips that keep me organized. In the spirit of love these tips will hopefully give you a few budget-friendly ideas for your home or your kids’ apartments.

TIPS FOR BUDGET FRIENDLY VALENTINE IDEAS

These accessories can job share with Easter, Spring, 4th of July, Memorial and Labor Day.
I loved this pink and white gingham hearts at Hobby Lobby and I knew they would worked for Easter and Spring. I used them for this Valentine theme choche.

2. SHOP YOUR HOUSE FOR RED AND PINK DECOR
Before you hop into your car to find a few dollar accessories shop your house!
These are a few budget friendly ideas to jump start your treasure hunt around your house.

- candles
- craft paper or leftover craft supplies

- cupcake liners
- empty candle jars likes these

THINK OUTSIDE THE HOLIDAY
- You will surprised at how many red Christmas candles can be used for the February holiday. The candle says Merry on one side so I just turned it 180 degrees. My girlfriends were over and loved the look of my thrifty tiered tray.

I loved the price of these heart ornaments and thought where is the harm in including them on my kitchen table? They set me back $2.00 for four heart ornaments. I tilted the familiar cap so you don’t see ornaments you see decorated heart spheres. No one judges hearts. I found these Christmas ornaments on my Homegoods clearance trip.

STOCK UP ON THE BASIC CRAFT SUPPLIES
Stickers, Sharpies, construction paper, wrapping paper are all basic staples that make crafting a little easier on the budget.

These oil-based Sharpies (this set on Amazon) or these fine tip Sharpies are a new favorite craft staple. I found mine at Home Depot and I think they sell them at Michaels and Hobby Lobby.
But make sure they are oil-based if you want to create and bake plates (or mugs or platters from Goodwill).

I used a red oil-based Sharpie to make these Valentine plates.
Shameless Sidenote: The Sharpie tutorial video is a bit rough but if you leave a nice comment (or a follow you can enter my Pottery Barn gift card giveaway here.

I had so much fun making these plates with a Sharpie! If you buy all primary and spring colors you will have all the holidays covered.
Here is one more budget-friendly tip and a new crafty find. I shared this fun Valentine video and craft here. Seriously who knew a strand of pom pom garland could make so many thrifty Valentine accessories.
Start recycling those candle jars! And get your craft on this year!
