BLUE & GOLD LIVING ROOM

I am so excited to share my blue and gold living room. Our living room is the most photographed room after this remodel.

When my mom gave me this handmade bookcase I knew it would add year-round holiday decor fun! And a connection to my maternal grandparents.

I was tempted to hold off until fall, but let’s face it fall at Everyday Edits it is all about pumpkins.

And then on a planned whim, I decided to add blue and gold. Now? It is like the Gilded Age in my living room.

This is a fun combination to try in between the holidays. With a 1/2 full can of Rustoleum taking up space in the garage, I knew it was a great time to pull the look and add a little gold fun for the living room.

SUPPLY LIST

The supply list and the fun is off the charts. The hardest part is waiting for the accessories to dry.

  1. Rustoleum Metallic Gold spray paint
  2. Accessories like these go-to favorites and anything from Homegoods that was headed to Goodwill. Paint makes everything look better.

BLUE AND GOLD LIVING ROOM

The Rustoleum Metallic Gold spray paint was amazing. I had nearly full coverage on the first round and no drips.

I found it at Home Depot and ordered a second can online. The inventory can be spotty at the Depot so I ordered a can just in case.

Looking back there were signs I was going to add a little gold fun to the living room.

My favorite Homegoods find of two identical white upholstered club chairs had gold finish spindle legs.

And these pillows from Homegoods had the subtle detail of a gold zipper.

knew I wanted to decorate this bookcase with blue and gold decor. Take a look! We have a DIY custom bookcase so it is double the fun for holiday decor.

If you zoom in you can see the later lantern on the leather bench has a gold handle.

GOLD TRIM HANDLE ON GLASS LANTERN

I bought this lantern and a smaller identical one several years ago at Target. The faux potted plant was another Target find. I spy a blue candle and a gold monogram!

There is an expression in the south that goes something like… if it ain’t moving it’s getting a monogram. I love a monogram. I

found this wood letter at Hobby Lobby. It always reminds me of the M Mary Richards had in her tiny apartment in Minneapolis.

BLUE AND GOLD BOOKCASE

I love how the blue and gold looks in our living room.

The petite Target clock in the living room was another sign I was leaning towards a blue and gold theme living room. I love the gold against the Hale Navy bookcase.

If you look at the stack of books under the clock you will see the blue and gold book jackets I spray painted.

I love to do this with older books and cookbooks. I don’t need the face of the latest celebrity chef (unless Matthew McConaughey writes a cookbook).
