We have a loft. I rarely talk about our loft with the mile-high views. The open space is situated on the top floor just outside the kids’ bedrooms and the laundry room. The loft was the catchall for homework, eight pounds of accounting college books, laundry and one hotdog Halloween costume. And, as each child left for college the loft became a space full of new potential. Are you ready to take a tiny tour to our loft with mile-high views?

Loft with Mile-High Views
The loft is on the upper east side of our suburban brownstone. There are four flights of stairs from the garage entrance to the loft.

After finishing a kitchen remodel and Jack + Jack’s bathroom, I am ready to tackle this open space where there is not much happening on the upper level these days. #entrylevelemptynest
Except for laundry; there is always laundry.
I just need to share my vision of a few changes with my husband.

And, I believe there is no such thing as too many cozy spaces.
I think it is time for this loft, with mile-high views to get new flooring and new countertops. Do we need two built-in desks?
Taking suggestions here or here.

The extra desk area would be a great place to take in those views. Maybe a chaise to take in those mile-high views?

It seems silly to stare into a blank wall with those views.

The loft is an open space; twice as long as it is wide.
We replaced the spindles years ago. It was our first DIY project. We tackled it days after my husband quit his job to chase his dream: to own his own company. Over five months, we poured our anxiety, fears, dreams, and sweat into each one of those spindles.

It is situated above the living room.

And, those unobstructed views.

Thank you for stopping by to take the tour of our loft with mile-high views. I love this space! Stay tuned!

What space do you want to makeover this year?
I think the loft looks so cute now. Love the living room rug btw. How about turning that area into a cozy reading room. The light is great and view is spectacular!! Enjoy your week, Laura!
Oooh I can’t wait to see what you do with it. I would just want to stare at the view! I want to makeover our bathrooms!
Great space, some cozy seating and a reading lamp with a small table for a drink would be one idea.

Love those suggestions Pat! Thank you!
What about getting rid of the nooks and making it another sitting area? Y’all have the best views!
That’s what I want to do! I should open a bed & coffee since we have so many rooms available! ha!
