The day after Christmas is always a bit of a letdown. The stockings are on the floor, along with the ornaments that made the plunge from the tree branches to the floor (hopefully a padded landing).

The fridge is packed with leftovers placed precariously on the sticky glass shelves.

I like to organize to get out of the post holiday funk. I still play the Hallmark movie marathon in the background, but now I am on a mission to organize and clean before the new year.

And not all my cleaning tasks involve a surface cleaner.

TECH AND SUBSCRIPTIONS

Audit your streaming services. Amazon, Netflix, Hallmark, Masterpiece Theater, Showtime, HBO Max and Peacock.
Along this line is to audit magazine subscriptions or shopping services.Earlier this year I signed up for Walmart Delivery to save time and to deliver bulky items.
But with a monthly charge and gratuity, I paused the servicefor one month to see if I miss the convenience with my approaching busy season.
Clean out the emails on y our computer. My youngest son talks about Auntie Tricia’s computer and the zillion emails. He is seriously considering a quick trip to Knoxville to organize her computer files, folders, and emails.
Before you haul your Christmas decor into bins and totes, go through the decor that did not make it out of the bins this year.

6. Clean the fridge and pantry. Check the expiration dates. During Covid with the kids home from college, they had a contest to find the oldest expiration date. i

Maybe it is time to reposition the shelves to accommodate your favorite Sugar-Free Lemonade or the half gallon of cold brew.

. Clean the surfaces: I started using this multi-surface cleaner. It tackles the grease around the stove. I buy it in bulk to save money. I store it in the entry closet!

7. Speaking of cleaning supplies, the new year is a great time to take inventory of cleaning products. This idea helped me!

8. Clean the bedding and pillows. This cleaning tip has over 300,000 times! Make sure to set your washing machine to a slower spin cycle.

9. Organize holiday gift bags, ribbons, and wrapping paper. I sorted my bows and ribbons into Ziplock gallon-size bags to easily find the color to use.

10. Take inventory of your dishware. I have multiple plates with chips. Depending on the severity of the chip or crack, you may want to try this fun DIY/repurpose idea. Every time I start to toss a chipped bowl, I think of a way to get a few more years out of the chipped bowl or plate!

11. THINGS THAT COLLECT DUST

Grab the SC Johnson Lemon Pledge and dust surfaces. It’s true it dusts, cleans, shines, and protects wood surfaces. Who remembers this SC Johnson commercial?
